Just finished Honest Hearts tonight and my opinion of it was extremely positive. It's a nice sub-plot about forgiveness and cultural or religious intervention on indigenous tribals and none of the choices felt black or white. Unlike Dead Money, it stayed with the open world feel, didn't take away everything you owned at the start and allows you to return after you finish the story.

However this never bothered me about Dead Money. The oppressive enviroment was a nice change and really had me on the edge of my seat. Honest Hearts is more free flowing with plenty of exploration and interesting characters. I'd recommend it, but don't expect it to be particularly groundbreaking.

If you finished it, what were your thoughts?

I hated Dead Money, but loved Honest Hearts. The environment was laid out very well, and the weather effects (rain, starry nights) added some charm. I did enjoy the missionary storyline ("They probably think that Mary is the mother and Jesus is the child". I loved that line). The new perks and the .45 Automatics were pretty nice too.

There were some letdowns, though. Outside of the new .45s, the new weapons were kind of ho hum. The new enemies were really nothing special (Though Eurogamer did have some humorous advice on how to pronounce Yao Guai: Just think of Sloth from The Goonies).

The biggest letdown for me was The Burned Man himself. He really failed to live up to his legendary status. I found "The Survivalist" much more interesting, actually.
