Screw you, Obsidian. Just screw you.

All I need is a half-second to read Meeting People before the stupid ending dialogue comes up, but no, that's not allowed. You don't have a natural 100 Speech, then you don't get to skip the terrible end fight.
And by terrible I mean: psychic NCR Rangers shooting me even though I'm using a Stealth Boy and have a natural 100 Sneak skill, stupid maze portion filled with mines that cannot be disarmed, and then you get to kill the stupid general and a couple NCR heavies.

This autosave in railroad-land is the only save I have for a couple of hours and I have to deal with this BS just to get the Legion ending.

Well in Bethesda games its always wise to save very often. Honestly I did the same thing, but due to having a recent save, I just farmed the dam till I leveled up and got to bypass the fight. Then didnt enjoy the result and reloaded and just fought my way through anyway.

I don't need to level, I've got 90 Speech. I would just need a second to open my Pip-boy and read the copy of Meeting People I'm carrying around.

Also, I kinda don't have ammo for the guns I'm good with, so I've just got a bunch of grenades.

Well best I could suggest is use it right before you enter the door. the effect will carry over during the dialog.

Autosave is after the door for whatever stupid reason.

anc[is]Just use the console. Pretend you used the magazine. Better than being angry
Playing it on the XBox and even if there were a console, I wouldn't get my achievement.

Back to the bitching: Seriously, an NCR ranger that doesn't have to see me to shoot me with a sniper rifle that takes off half my health?

Well, Only other thing I could suggest is to bite the bullet and go back to your save loosing a couple hours and get into the habit of saving often. Its annoying, but with how easy it is to unintentionally screw things up in bethesda games having to revert to a previous save is really not that unusual of an occurrence. I know I had to revert saves prolly about 10 times in my first playthru, though the most I lost was one instance where I lost about 4 hours of content because I decided to kill Heck Gunderson inside the Lux Hotel. Didnt bother me in the least until I had to be on good terms with the white glove society, which came about 4 hours later. So yes, it happens, its annoying.

As for the difficulty of the end of hoover dam, I know I was about lvl 25 and it wasnt really all that challenging,
but it is the end game event so You really wouldnt want it to be a cake walk, yanno.

how could you not have 100 speech? thats like the most important skill in the game alonside Lockpick. And the last mission is extremly easy if you have the alien blaster.

First, your "sneak" skill is weighed against the Ranger's perception (yes, they have this stat as well). And, as a spoiler, an end game ranger has maxed SPECIAL attributes. As such, even with perfect sneak skill, you still need to be hidden from their view as the sneak skill itself is only partly effective against "visual" recognition and is largely based upon "hearing" instead. The stealth boy does not make you invisible either - the effect is 75% Chameleon (The stealth boy is basically a multi-function potion from Oblivion with a boost attribute and chameleon bonus). As a result, if you are in broad daylight and the ranger is close enough to naturally trigger as aggressive, and you are in their line of sight, you are fair game.

The problem here is that the visual range on the 360 and your max natural range for activating VATS are well inside the range at which you could reasonably be spotted under these circumstances. On the PC, where you can adjust the actor fade distance (the 360 uses a value about 1/5th the max on the PC), using a Stealth Boy in conjunction with a silenced weapon makes this sort of thing much easier. Even without access to these things, all you really need to do is engage individual targets and constantly break line of sight to get your sneak bonus back. It still takes rangers a few moments to spot you when using a stealth boy at reasonable distance - plenty of time to get shots off with your chosen weapon. And if you happen to be using a suppressed sniper rifle, all you really need is one shot.

And the complaint against the save system might have more weigh were it not for the simple fact that you can save whenever you want. The game already tends to save whenever you trigger a new quest state anyhow. It also saves on rest, fast travel, and zone switching (by default). To my knowledge the game engine does not offer a trigger to save when a player simply moves through a certain world space. At least not directly. You could of course have a trigger point for a minor quest update that changes nothing except the state and thus force an autosave that way.

I beat it. It just bugged me that there was the one Ranger shooting me with the Anti-Material Rifle even though I had 100 Sneak, Stealth Boy on, in the shadows and still listed as [Hidden].

There were a lot of things I could have done to make the whole thing easier. Not go in completely out of MF cells, save before entering the last room so I could read my stupid magazine and skip the whole last fight, that's pretty much it. Considering this was my energy weapons build, having a few MF cells would have made it all infinitely easier -- but I just wanted to get it over with.

AND that's why I bought it for the PC because there's something called....

MODS!

Really, there's great realism mods, better sneak, weapons, fixes, armor etc etc
I have so many installed and it's a blast! Especially with enhanced weather and zombies (and ninja's here and there for the lolz)

Plus having a baby Deathclaw (As a companion) and watching him grow up, get bigger and stronger by feeding him and paying attention to him is pretty awesome.

I'm going for the legion ending too by the way :)

Mostly i'm annoyed that they hyped that NCR Ranger armour so much on the box art and in the traliers and then you only see them at the very end and don't even get to properly use their cool armour!

I hated how if you pissed off the Legion right off the bat, they would send assassins after you with the 12.7mm Pistol and then you don't see that gun again until the endgame.

There's a NCR Camp Alpha (Or Delta?) way above the Dam that has 2 Ranger Armor guards that are a pain to kill but hey, it's worth getting it early.

I only just discovered it a few hours ago.

And when I build a desktop for my girlfriend and myself, I will once again buy PC games. Until then, my MacBook is pretty weak and doesn't really cut it for titles released in the past 5 years.

Just beat the Legion ending myself and thought it was rather shit for the build up of this massive battle that was really, really lame and buggy. Oh well Legion still kicks ass!

True to Caesar! o/

That's what you get for aligning with the Legion...
This is my thought. Seriously, go to The Vault's New Vegas endings page or watch the cutscenes on YouTube and tell me you could live with yourself.

Radioactive barrels from Cottonwood Overlook and bringing Boone to the Fort with me, the only way to travel.
