Ok im not here to troll or rant but after reading page 1 I got a few things to say.

1. New Vegas and Fallout 3 work a bit differently from each other in terms of lvling. In Fallout 3 the enemy's scaled to your lvl so @ lvl 5 Mole rats and Deathclaws were also lvl 5. In Fallout New Vegas the enemy's have a persistent lvl NOT scaleing to your lvl so player lvl 5 Mole rat lvl 3 and Deathclaw lvl 8. [THIS IS AN EXAMPLE NOT FACT]. Lvls may vary.

2.Ok ok gona sound like a leetest dick but was the last game really that hard I played on max difficulty from start to finish with a X3 spawn mod on second play through and I still thought I could up it some more. About the Cezadors if you dint get it either use a precious stealth boy to get past or don't go there till your totting a mini-gun @ lvl 20 and remember SAVE ALL THE TIME if you live buy 1 auto save your gona ruin your save eventually. I think my I had around 650 saves for Fallout 3.

3. Leave Bethesda alone they rock!.

End rant.

peace out yall.

Unlike Fallout 3, enemies don't scale as you level up. Different areas have enemies of various strengths. Don't wander to far off the beaten path (at least not at first) and do plenty of quests, and pretty soon you'll be able to go anywhere with no problem.

Let's all share our tales of exploration, because I know I can't be alone. You're exploring, as you're wont to do, and you encounter some critters. The game calls them Cazador, but I know some Fallout version of the Wicked Witch of the West has sent them to fuck up my plans of discovery. Though, wielding my trusty lead pipe, I can take a man's head clean off in one fell swoop, these insect fiends laugh at my apparently not so mighty blows. Yes, I swear I hear them laughing. Or is it me losing my mind because all I've eaten for weeks is gecko steak?

So I've turned the difficulty down. Way down. They still kill me. So what are your stories of Obsidian's ridiculously over-leveled creatures thwarting your exploration attempts?

Edit: I feel like I need to add that I do like that the game adds these areas. I'm not complaining, it just caught me off guard because I'm used to Bethesda's system of enemies scaling along side you.
I hate those bastards. First time I encountered them, I was sneaking and got the drop on them, dropping like, 3 of them with a heavily modified Varmint Rifle. As I said, I was sneaking and got those sweet critical hits in. I was also pretty damn far away from them. Next time I see some in the wild, they are the ones who have the drop on me. There are about a half dozen of the bastards and they mess me up. When they strike, they poison you too.

Cazadors are the fucking hardist shit ever. My scientist is lvl 21 now though, and has 100 in guns and energy weapons, and they're cake with the guns I use. The key is to keep moving, NEVER EVER stop moving, and to just fucking spam them with shots from something with a high penetration value. Tri Laser, the All American, Experimental Las Rifle, etc, all do pretty well.

Cazadors have a high armor value and move like the flies they are, so they're damn near impossible to kill. I'm pretty sure they're either mutated wasps or horse flies.

Obsidian brought the difficulty back up to the level it's supposed to be. Fallout 3 was some nubcake shit, I tell you. I was max level halfway through the game and died maybe twice in my whole play through.

New Vegas still isn't up to the level of Fallout 1&2, but it's not your typical treat you like a third grader FPS that you see nowadays, either. They nailed it. So glad to encounter a challenging game in 2010.
Agreed. I may get my ass handed to me when I wander sometimes. But it just makes me smile and say, "that was awesome! I'm gonna do it again!"

I have leveled up. This isn't my first RPG. I'm a Bethesda vet. If no one else is experiencing this, then I'm wondering if this is a bug. 8 Strength, 84 in melee and my attacks are barely hurting them. Weapon is in great condition as well.
Seriously? A lead pipe? If that was a joke in the OP then I apologize. As others here have noted, my experience in getting eaten alive in some areas is just a case of the game designers having higher level creatures in some places.

EDIT: I read your other post. Not sure what to tell ya, sorry.
Actually, I just checked again. I'm getting 68 DPS (29 DAM) with the lead pipe. The Rebar Club gives me 44 DPS (36 DAM).
You should definitely grab the Knock-Knock in camp searhlight 125 DPS (66 DAM)

Leaving aside the pointless debate wheather or not this is a good thing, I can clearly say the following:

Where Fallout 3 scaled almost flawlessly, meaning that you could explore 90% of the wasteland right from the start, New Vegas is much more linear.

You start out in a town at the side of the map. You can't go West, Border there. If you go North the Insects will kill you, If you go to the east too far, the Death Claws will kill you. So you go South, As the game tells you to. From there on you are on a linear track, till you hit Vegas. After that the world is open, but that's easly to levle 10.

Do you know why the game is designed that way?
One word: Reviews.

After that nice linear track ends, the game's flaws start. You notice the empty areas that lack polish, you encounter bugged quests. Most people who want to form an opinion, for a possible recommendation, won't play the game any longer than 5-10 hours.

Call me paranoid, but it's fascinating to see that in most reviews, like the one here on the Escapist. Noone ever mentions things behind the linear corridor at the game's beginning.

PS: I'm not here to argue about the game's diffuculty. Sure you can kill a Deathclaw at level 5, if you sit yourself on a rock and let the thing run back and forth like an idiot, but what's the point of that?

Morrowind. On accident I wandered a little too close to a Daedric ruin. Well, actually I was an idiot and wandered inside. Clannfears butchered me...

I'm weak to the armoured poison tanks known as Giant Radscorpions.

Other than that, only Young and Blind Deathclaws have given me trouble. And that's why I stay the hell away from the adult, not-blind ones.

Cazador(s) are absolute bitches to kill. They're fast, tough, can poison you and come in SWARMS. I actually die a bit inside when I see them. Nothing seems to kill them, even on very easy which I put on just to fight them. Ive just got past level 20, and they can still rape me through the nostrils.

That and Deathclaws. On FO3, I didnt worry about them once I was level 10, maybe lower if I had the dart gun. Now, I just run. Run very fast, and leave Boone to get slaughtered for my survival. Same with Rex. They are meat shields for Deathclaws.
Sniper Rifle + Armour piercong rounds.

You can one hit kill a Deathclaw if you get a sneak critical in.

I found you can avoid the deathclaw/supermutant area if you are stealthy and don't mind a bit of a climb. I left from neils shack and climbed over the cliffs, stealthing all the while, walking if a deathclaw got a bit close, and then sprinting up to the crimson caravan area, only stopping to sneak crit some of the NV raiders (I forget their name) with mah trusty varmint gun.

So, if you think of other ways to get around, or indeed, over the problem, then adventuring isnt ruined. My advice would be to clamber over the hills to the west of the cazadore bit, take some damage resistant drugs and drop down the side of the cliff, but save before you do, Then youve just got to deal with the radscorpions and pals

Well pick your poison - either un-beatable enemies, invisible walls, visible and unrealistically un-jumpable or climbable obstacles, visible and view-obscuring walls that screw up the scenery, or a convenient "this area closed" sign. They have to limit your movement somehow in order to craft a story. Otherwise you're just some dude wandering around.

Even glorious sandboxes like GTA had major portions of the world blocked off so they could introduce some story elements first.

Blind Deathclaw + Me at lvl 4 on hardcore = Absolute fear and horror.
Deathclaws are badass again and I'm not sure if that's better or worse.
