One Note Before I Begin: This thread was not made for bashing please don't use it for that.

What if for some reason what you believed your entire life turned out to be false.

What if you were Atheists and some how you came to realized undeniably that God existed. How would you cope with it?

Same thing goes for Theists too. What would you do if you some how realize with out a doubt that there was not God? How would you cope with it, what would you do? Would get extremely depressed?

Since I'm Christian I would probably, take some time for school to think and hopefully continue my life with all the morals and virtues I learned only focus more on my self and humanity and not on God.

Hey, you learn new things all the time. If God's pissed that I waited for proof... oh well, that's life, shit happens.

Personally, it took me a long time to admit to myself that I no longer believe in God. I was raised Catholic and went to church often, so when I first started to question my faith I got scared and did my best to ignore my doubt. It became more and more awkward for me to say my prayers at night like I'd been taught, because every single time I did I couldn't shake the feeling that it was pointless. Luckily I skipped the depression phase and transitioned directly to acceptance.

However, if I was presented with undeniable proof of God's existence I think I'd be pretty shocked-- especially if we're talking about the Christian version. I would probably think to myself, "Well, how the fuck did you expect us to believe in you if you gave us common sense?"

I dunno, Gormourn... just looking at the terrible things that have happened throughout history, I wouldn't have any trouble believing God's a giant asshole. But eh.

Atheist and I would admit I was wrong and move on. It really wouldn't make that much difference. I expect nothing after dead, so if there is something it would either be a pleasant or horrific surprise, depending on where I end up.

If you want to safeguard against depression or any other such symptoms of disbelief or shock or whatever, it's best to keep an open mind...just not so open that your brains fall out.

I love you. Even if you're a guy. (lol)

In all seriousness, the fact that a Christian can even consider such thoughts, let alone carry them without self-destructing into either tears or a hate-filled verbal rampage gives me just a small, small, small glimmer of hope for humanity yet. Your independence of self is quite impressive.

If we found out that a god really does exist with SOLID proof... Id like to see how people would get into heaven like they showed in south park... where god is is there with a giant wheel with every religion on represented by a ticker, he then spins the wheel and who ever wins goes to heaven ahah

would be ironic if the atheists/Agnostic/deist people won. hahah

Since I'm a Theist, I'd probably be pretty miffed.

I mean, that would mean that my entire life has been pretty much pointless, and that I have to start actually caring about where I came from and all that jazz.

I'd also sadly have to say that I'm in cahoots with those atheists that treat all religion like some sort of poisonous serpent.

Guess I should have answered your question earlier OP. As I only believe in one non-religious god, finding out he (or she) wasn't real would be pretty soul-crushing. I suppose I would have to learn to live the best I could, but it would be hard. Finding out a religion's god was real would put me off quite a lot. If those assholes are real, being a good person is pointless and I shudder to think of the consequences, both personally and globally.

Aristotle(I think) wrote an entire book on this, which means you should have used the search function better. IB4L!

Seriously he has some good ideas, look it up if you're interested.

Depends which God it was.

To be honest, it wouldn't affect my life greatly, if at all. I've never really viewed beliefs as an important aspect of my life, so I'm more or less the same person I would be if I were religious.

Personally, I'm a Christian, but at the same time I'm not exactly devout and I believe more in a union of God, Spiritualism, and Science. Therefore, I'd cope pretty easily if I found one of them was false. I'd move on, and just keep the good lessons I've learnt from wherever necessary, but in general I wouldn't have a problem coping. Simple as that, really.
