I'm tempted to show this article to a friend of mine who is currently an IE zealot. Hopefully that'll change his mind and reveal the clear truth, that Firefox is considered by quite a few people to be just plain better.

*Isn't biased for Firefox in any way*
*coughs*

Now I feel vulnerable accessing my e-mail at school, but there's just no way around it; we can't download anything, and I need my e-mail because I routinely e-mail myself assignments so I can print them in the library (the printer I have is almost like the printer from the depths of hell itself).

Hey. I use IE. Most of the time. Now I feel bad. And not this apparent password stealing issue nor you people will make me stop using it.
Damn right brother, glad to know I'm not alone here.

Let's just say there's no subliminal advertising in my articles at all.

Ever.
Good for you, as I also view such advertising with these flamboyant methods rather taxing.
Rather than use such obtusely and rather scattered methods, making standard adverts usually give better results in the long run.

Eeeenteresting, as IE is only about 22% of the Escapist's traffic last I checked. With Firefox at 63% or so. I know we're a certain demographic, but that's quite a disparity from "vast majority".

This is all a big lie. Internet Explorer is used by nobody.
And if somebody actually does use it, this is the LEAST of their concerns as the mere idea of using this terrible browser should've made your computer catch every single malware there is already.

I'm using IE because, unfortunately, I am not allowed to install anything on my computer at work.

I think its because its the default setting for the Windows, and most people can't figure out a freeware browser.
Exactly. The Escapist community spends a lot of time on their computers, and ergo knows a thing or two about them. The average yutz who just wants to get their email knows nothing about Firefox or Chrome, nor do they really want to.

Seriously, ask yourself how many people you know who use a computer. Not just the geeks who live on them (like us), but literally everyone you know who uses a computer. Now, how many of those people do you think are savvy enough, or interested enough, to hunt down a different browser?

Is remote desktop installed on your PC? Just crank up PuTTY (installer-less), connect your SSH tunnel, and browse from home. :)

NOOO!!! I'm in the majority again. Time to switch back to Opera.

I love the about:memory page on Chrome, where it shows you what a mammoth IE is. At least it's new enough for there to be hardly, if any, exploits for it yet.

[Rant] I tried showing that to my little brother, who my mother thinks knows everything about computers because he's got a bleeding Y chromosome... It took me THREE DAYS to clean my sisters PC after he installed some cracks (aka. Crackz) for several Popcap games on there.

I WILL get to my mothers PC when she's not looking. There are thirteen cracked games on there and almost nothing else - when I take the spyware off the games stop working, and I get told off and instructed to put the damn keyloggers back on so the games will work again! How can anyone who knows how to access more than Task Manager do such a thing! I explained that strange people in Nigeria and Russia will know everything she does, and it doesn't work! As long as the flashy gems keep falling down the screen it's all good! Aaaarrrgh! [/Rant]
