Jason felt the shockwaves from the missles and saw the fires burning through the masts. He grabbed onto a rope to stop himself from flying over the railing and yelled out an order, "Get us as far away as possible."
He knew they wouldnt make it far, what with a broken ballon and all, but he had to try otherwise they would all die in the crash.
He ran up to the controls and began lowering the ship down to an opening in the jungle. As they descended, he saw forest fires burning large expanses of trees.
Immediatly when they hit the treetops, Jason's ship broke branches and crash landed in the clearing. His ship slid at least twenty feet before smashing into a set of trees that held his ship fast. He was now lying on his back, five feet away from his ship.
He heard the screams of his crew and he jumped to his feet, "Get water and douse the fires!"
Luckily his ship had landed next to a river, and they were quickly able to put out the fires. The second his people were done putting out the fires, the mast snapped in half and almost crushed Jason, who if he hadnt rolled to the side he would have died.
Standing up and brushing himself off he tried finding the others. He began digging through what remained of his airship and managed to recover his weapons and all of his allies. Most of his crew were killed, but twenty still lived.
After rounding them up, he divided them into teams of five, all were supposed to look for anything that could be salvaged and then they were going to continue North. It would take them longer, and he didnt know if they would be able to make the journey with no casulties.
"Alright, lets head out... and remember keep hidden, we dont know if those bastards are still up there." Jason called out to the group. Each crew member now held a a pistol and a staff or spear. Some even carried assult rifles, those were the more experienced crew members.
"Jason, we have to hurry, i can feel the ship coming towards us." Tyrion said softly to Jason as they began to walk North.
"I know, but at least we were able to salvage this." Jason smirked, holding the plans for his airship.
"What good will those do?" Tyrion asked, walking in time with Jason.
"We will ask Lord Caron to build us a new ship, more powerful and able to house many more elves." Jason replied, jumping over a tree branch and down into a muddy river bank.
He began making his way over the river bed and only looked back once to his ship which was now just a smoldering wreck in the aftermath of a forest fire.
