I have never cared, and never will care, about professional football. But I'm posting in this thread because I want to post something that I'll likely be saying all day.

...OH CRAP FORGOT ABOUT COMMERCIALS THOSE ARE THE BEST PART.
Did I miss anything good?
Some Dorito commercials were alright, but that was about it. There were a lot of crappy car commercials as well and not many good beer ones.

As for the game, I'm upset that the Pats lost, but I'll still admit that you played a better game. I'll be an adult and say congratulations.

We're still winning

I grew up in New Hampshire, so I grew up a Patriots fan, but ever since Belechick has started winning, they've been like the evil team in a Mighty Ducks movie or something. I hate being a fan of the evil team. I don't like Belechick's ABYSMAL sportsmanship, and don't like crybaby Tom Brady, and I REALLY didn't want them to get revenge on the Giants for having their perfect season spoiled a few years back.

Until Brady and Belechick are no longer on the team, I am boycotting my fandom! Who's the next closest team to New Hampshire? Uh... go Bills!

I am so happy the G-Men were able to come out on top. Great game. I despise the Pats simply because of one man: Bill Belichick.

Plus, it's always great to see Saint Thomas Brady throw a pick to a linebacker on a deep ball.

But really, Ahmad Bradshaw? Is it seriously that hard to sit down?

The patriots losing two times to the giants, that must be embarrassing. I would hate to be in New England now.

I wish I knew a bookie or someone so I could have placed a bet on this I didn't really watch it but everyone knew who was going to win (although who would would have guessed they would have won by such a small margin) I was in it though for the ads

Poor Brady, both times he's been let down by his teammates hand's when it mattered most
Welker's drop was hardly the thing that cost them the most. If that is a better thrown ball, it's an easy catch and run. Brady was crazy inaccurate in the 4th. Never seen him that loose.

I wanted the Giants to win, mostly because I don't like Bill Belichek.
I dunno, the ball hit him in the hands. I know I'm about to beat a dead horse here, but when you lead the league with catches, make you're reputation as a possession-slot receiver, that's really a catch you need to make. It also didn't help with Branch and Hernandez dropping easy passes as well. I don't care either way as I'm a CFB guy for the most part, but man that was a disappointing end

It's funny, we hear about California and New York sports teams so much, and what have they done? You just listed the NY teams, and California obviously has the Lakers but after that what? Cali has like 15 teams combined from each of the Big Four leagues, and most of said teams are bottom-dwellers....

quite an enjoyable game..new to American Football so it was an interesting watch.
It's an odd game for sure, cobbled together with bits and pieces from Soccer and Rugby, and given the ol' "It's America. Make it bigger" treatment. I liken it to a human chess game where pieces collide with each other at high speed.

I'm always glad when people outside the US (I'm assuming here, if you're not, my mistake) don't immediately scoff at Gridiron football.

I tried watching that game, then gave up after half time when I realised that it would end up going on for another two hours, despite only ostensibly half-an-hour being left on the clock. Given that I'd been watching rugby union earlier that day, I was left feeling that American football would be a hell of a lot more watchable if they didn't have as many bloody commercial breaks. Indeed, I was watching it on a channel where commercials are actually illegal, so it just made it more perplexing to watch. I wouldn't mind massive commercial breaks if they just played a quarter through to the end before going to commercials.
The way I see it, those craploads of commerical breaks are what keep advertisements off of team jerseys. I know technically the ad money goes to the NFL and not the teams, but that is a pretty strong reminder that it's not just a sport, it's a business. And since the Super Bowl's such a huge deal and watched by millions upon millions of people, those ads mean big bucks for the league.

I'm a filthy capitalist, so while yes, the glut of commercials can get irksome, I understand that it's good business for the NFL, so I'll live with it.

Meh, I didn't watch it. I'm still peeved over it though, seeing as I placed a bet and missed out on a chance to win $100. Yeah, I know I shouldn't worry about it, but STILL...

Big Giants fan since the Parcell teams of the 80s. I have one question. Why do they always make it go down to the wire and damn near give us heart attacks. I'm gettign too old for this. I was as happy as a little kid at the end though. :D

I'm a 49ers fan. Good to know that they lost to the eventual champions.

Also, I hate Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Hernandez's drop was intentional. He saw he was getting tackled way short of the sideline with no hope of escaping, so he knocked it down. The Branch throw was Brady's underthrowing it the whole way. Welker should of caught that ball, yes, but Brady's inaccuracy hurt more.
I dunno about the Hernandez catch, it would have been easy to get up there fast enough to spike the ball. His drop set up the third down sack which forced them to burn a Timeout. I don't have video of the Branch drop so I can't argue one way or the other.

And with the Welker drop, yes it was thrown behind him. Yes Brady should have hit him on the frontside instead of going back shoulder, it's not an endzone catch with defenders everywhere. But Welker has made those plays many times before. He got himself turned all the way around, had both hands up with the whole diamond thing, no defenders trying to hit his arms or anything, and had the ball him in the hands. You really can't get a ball more on target than that. Brady wasn't lights out, and after that big hit he took he may have been not as accurate, but when the game was on the line he put the ball in a position for his receivers to make plays and they couldn't come up with it

Honestly, I was bored the whole time. It didn't help that it was two teams that I did not give a FUCK about (*yawn* New England again?*yawn*), but even then... The game looked close, but IMO, for all the wrong reasons.

Specifically, there were a TON of penalties...what the hell, aren't these supposed to be the two best teams in the NFL? I get that the pressure is on, but this is the Super Bowl; bring the A-Game guys!

It became so bad that I invoked my usual drinking game for it: 1 sip per 5 yards of penalties.

I skipped the Halftime show, so I don't know how horrible it was this year (it hasn't been good...jeez. I can't even remember.)
Some of the commercials were a riot though.
