I have never cared, and never will care, about professional football. But I'm posting in this thread because I want to post something that I'll likely be saying all day.
Some Dorito commercials were alright, but that was about it. There were a lot of crappy car commercials as well and not many good beer ones.C F said:...OH CRAP FORGOT ABOUT COMMERCIALS THOSE ARE THE BEST PART.
Did I miss anything good?
I dunno, the ball hit him in the hands. I know I'm about to beat a dead horse here, but when you lead the league with catches, make you're reputation as a possession-slot receiver, that's really a catch you need to make. It also didn't help with Branch and Hernandez dropping easy passes as well. I don't care either way as I'm a CFB guy for the most part, but man that was a disappointing endNameIsRobertPaulson said:Welker's drop was hardly the thing that cost them the most. If that is a better thrown ball, it's an easy catch and run. Brady was crazy inaccurate in the 4th. Never seen him that loose.Lionsfan said:Poor Brady, both times he's been let down by his teammates hand's when it mattered most
I wanted the Giants to win, mostly because I don't like Bill Belichek.
It's funny, we hear about California and New York sports teams so much, and what have they done? You just listed the NY teams, and California obviously has the Lakers but after that what? Cali has like 15 teams combined from each of the Big Four leagues, and most of said teams are bottom-dwellers....maddawg IAJI said:We're still winning![]()
It's an odd game for sure, cobbled together with bits and pieces from Soccer and Rugby, and given the ol' "It's America. Make it bigger" treatment. I liken it to a human chess game where pieces collide with each other at high speed.El Luck said:quite an enjoyable game..new to American Football so it was an interesting watch.
The way I see it, those craploads of commerical breaks are what keep advertisements off of team jerseys. I know technically the ad money goes to the NFL and not the teams, but that is a pretty strong reminder that it's not just a sport, it's a business. And since the Super Bowl's such a huge deal and watched by millions upon millions of people, those ads mean big bucks for the league.RAKtheUndead said:I tried watching that game, then gave up after half time when I realised that it would end up going on for another two hours, despite only ostensibly half-an-hour being left on the clock. Given that I'd been watching rugby union earlier that day, I was left feeling that American football would be a hell of a lot more watchable if they didn't have as many bloody commercial breaks. Indeed, I was watching it on a channel where commercials are actually illegal, so it just made it more perplexing to watch. I wouldn't mind massive commercial breaks if they just played a quarter through to the end before going to commercials.
I dunno about the Hernandez catch, it would have been easy to get up there fast enough to spike the ball. His drop set up the third down sack which forced them to burn a Timeout. I don't have video of the Branch drop so I can't argue one way or the other.NameIsRobertPaulson said:Hernandez's drop was intentional. He saw he was getting tackled way short of the sideline with no hope of escaping, so he knocked it down. The Branch throw was Brady's underthrowing it the whole way. Welker should of caught that ball, yes, but Brady's inaccuracy hurt more.
