IGN said:
If you were wondering why there was no new Zelda news at Nintendo's E3 press conference this morning, it's because Mr. Miyamoto wanted to save a little something for his own private roundtable. At the closed door, no-photographs-allowed discussion with a select group of journalists this afternoon, the man who created Link dropped details and showed off artwork of the Hero in Green's next iteration.

The next console Zelda adventure will feature a Link who is more mature than ever before, and a swordplay system that is far more advanced than any ever seen before in the series. The game may ship as a MotionPlus-only design, as well, which should give you an idea of the swordfighting scheme Shigeru has in the works.

"Think of Zelda while you're trying some of the archery and sword play in Wii Sports Resort," Miyamoto said.

If the next Zelda were to employ MotionPlus in that way (and it totally will), it would be a significant shift for the property -- and one that may well be the change the franchise needs.

"There are people who think of Zelda more as an RPG with simpler controls, so trying to figure out how to make everybody happy is something that's going to concern me," says Miyamoto.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. And get hyped!
I'm curious if Miyamoto is feeling a bit distanced from Nintendo for some reason. Maybe this is a prank. I'm not really sure. If it's true, then fantastic! I'm completely excited either way.

I won't get hyped, as both of the more recent entries into my favorite Nintendo franchises have dissapointed me thusfar (Spirit Tracks and Other M) but I will keep my eyes peeled for teasers and trailers. It's Zelda, so I've gotta at least give it a look-see.

If this is legit, I like Miyamoto's thinking. A more mature Zelda. Hope to get some news soon. I need something to give me up from Nintendo since Other M is not something i'm anticipating.

First, finally, someone that agrees with me.

Second, they also said Twilight Princess would be more mature and dark then any Zelda game before it. Majora's Mask was so much darker...

But, like with Other M, my fingers are crossed for them to prove me wrong, spit in my face, and call me dirt............

... wait, what were we talking about?

I can imagine that's the only difference between the upcoming Zelda and Twilight Princess.

This E3 is pretty exciting imo.. new Mario, Zelda (both portable, and console), and Metroid.. from Nintendo, that was exactly what I was hoping for/expecting (actually super mario galaxy 2 was a surprise, and a pleasant one at that).. only thing that could make it better is announcing a star fox Wii and Fzero Wii game.

Finally someone finally agrees with me. I can't find a single site where the majority of members are against this. Every supporter is saying that Ninja Gaiden style action is what Metroid was suppost to be, but I don't get that vibe.

Though I will not get excited over a new Zelda game, I am definitely going to have to get this when / if it comes out.

Didn't they say that twilight princess WAS the mature link?
Nope, I refuse to buy it.
As of now.
You fool me once, Shame on me. You don't fool me twice.

Like I felt with the EGM magazine coming back, I'll need to see more proof than a lone article up the back alley of IGN. If more articles are posted, or if one of the champs on the News Crew team posts something, I'll have higher hopes.

(on the by, I did get further proof on the EGM news.)

Nintendo did say that they wanted to take Zelda in a whole new direction. But a God of War'esque Zelda that's mature enough to have blood, and Link with a beard? That's not Nintendo at all. I thought Twilight was as mature as they could handle.

Why does everything need to be so "mature" and "edgy" nowadays? I liked Windwaker...

Ahh well, I'm sure I'll like it anyway.

I'm going to officially make this the deciding factor in whether or not I'm going to stick with nintendo. If its shit, I'm going to be done with them.

Well, I wouldn't put it past them to make a console version of Spirit Tracks and call it something even stupider.

hmmm; I'm still not going to buy a Wii when this comes out. I refuse to have that thing in my house.

COME ON MID LIFE CRISIS LINK.

I would give a kidney to see Link in the middle of a mid life crisis. Maybe he hoons around on Epona, trying to recapture the glory of his youth, whilst his potion bloated gut pops a button or two on the increasingly straining green tunic?

I don't care about "mature" or "not mature." All I noticed was "Legend of Zelda," swords, and "Wii Motion+."

I don't care what the story is, I'll buy the game regardless.

I think this is meant to hype up all the new Nintendo fans who weren't around for all the older games. I believe something has gone horribly wrong in the world of Nintendo.
