New Zodiac Signs. Apparently people care about it.

Most Western countries follow the Tropical Zodiac system, so if you're in a Western Country your sign did not change. Also, Zodiac's are the sign you are BORN under so these changes only take place if you were born in 2009 or later.

That said, I'm a Leo and I would not want to all of a sudden become a lame Cancer.

Astrology has never really had anything to do with science.

And these systems are different everywhere. There's not a standard. Someone changing them is just a simple trick to gain.

It's all just entertainment and pastime. It obviously shouldn't be taken too religiously.

I heard something about this change only being applicable to people born since 2009. Quite frankly, I don't give two craps.

I use to be interested in astrology (about 11 years ago) and actually had my birth chart drawn up. Despite my birthday being in the first 4 days of Virgo, I was more like a Leo and my birth chart showed all the "important" planets in Leo. People always assumed I was a Leo. With this change, I am now officially a Leo.

The only thing that's really changed for me is me giving a crap and there wasn't much of that before this was "announced" anyway.

Tis amusing to see people get so worked up over it though, especially on Facebook n_n

XD Well, I could try to remember you and try to do yours, certainly, but I'm not sure when am I going to learn it. It's a fairly complicated job with lots of maths and people usually go to specialized courses to learn how to make natal charts. I'll try to remember though

I actually had no idea there were two different systems - this intrigues me. I'm not sure how I'd managed to miss your post, considering its length; I normally try to read all the posts in the thread before I start my reply.

However, my current opinion on horoscopes and astrology does pretty much show what the general uninformed public thinks about the topic.[footnote]This statement is based off conversations I have had in the past with friends - I'm not answering for other people, here.[/footnote] Mind you, most people just scoff, I try to logic.

Yeah, it's okay. Right now, I have a dozen friends asking me about this, because it apparently hit all the newspapers and news-sites. People don't know about it usually, you'd have to be more into astrology to have heard about it. What bothers me a lot is that the person who "discovered" this (it's some astronomer, I forgot the name, but it was in the news article), didn't bother to look into astrology more. I mean, if you're trying to... debunk something or whatever, at least inform yourself about the subject. It almost reminds me about creationism and people that have no idea about evolution, but continue to talk about it like they do.

Basically there are two kinds of Astrology. Tropical and Sidereal. Tropical is the kind Western peoples tend to follow and nothing has changed. If you were a Sagitarius a week ago, you are a Sagitarius now.
