I'm a big fan of Mass Effect and I'm considering making my own suit of N7 armor for conventions and Halloween. I've never made cosplay armor before and I wanted to see what I'm in for before I invest a lot of money and time. Have any of you made Shepard's armor or similar suits? Can you point me to an idiots guide to cosplay or PVC armor? Recommend materials or paint? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, no, I wouldn't know much of anything about that. But hey, maybe carbon fiber would be a good start. They use that on cars and stuff. Um, try Google?

I would probably try making something a little less complex if you've never made anything like that before. It would just end up looking hilariously bad, unless you're really good at building things.

First piece of advice: Don't do it. Cosplay is incredibly lame.

Second piece of advice: You should probably disregard my advice, since I'm against cosplay(unless it hot chicks in skanky animé outfits).

Although, I found this [http://lmgtfy.com/?q=cosplay+help] to be very helpful. Google tends to help everyone, with anything!

Knew I was gonna get this. Yes, I tried Google. I figured this site would be a good source of information and I need a site like this to ask people specific questions rather than just read someone else's conversation.

What makes you think the members of a gaming website are going to be particularly informed about cosplay? Why don't you post on a cosplay forum? Hell I googled cosplay and got cosplay.com, go nuts.

Well, maybe there are some Mass Effect junkies out there. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if people knew the exact specs, textures and shades the armor uses, after all this IS the internet.
