I like it , I wish the IE was free but what ever. I like the rating and pin feature also. What are your thoughts?

It was crap before and it's still crap now. Seriously missing out on IE is like missing out on having acid poured into your eyes. It's not great and why use your xbox to browse when you can use a computer, tablet or even a smartphone is a much more user friendly option. The only only thing of worth they've done with this update (baring in mind that as an Australian I don't even get the one thing I wanted from this update which was NBA.TV Game Time) is they've made the "Games" tab a higher priority, bringing it from like the 6th or 7th to the 4th. Woo.

I don't like the new shade of green they're using, it's closer to the vomit-hue.

I don't know as the update hasn't rolled out to my Xbox in the UK yet.

According to this website it could be a good thing though, guess I'll find out sometime soon either way. Do you have to pay for IE?

I am typing this (painfully slow) from my xbox. IE is free for me. Dutch that is.

I have noticed no differences.

I am that unobservant a person that I didn't notice any changes apart from more things for me not to look at as I press the launch game panel. I really only use my xbox for playing games, but I suppose it's nice to know their are all these other lovely features for me to explore if I ever find myself without any working games.

I have only gotten game or movie related ads since the update, and there are less of them.

I... still havn'y gotten it. All my friends(in the same town even) talk about it but I still dont have it, and i've been online everyday. Weird. Equally weird since I seem to get game updates much more often as well

No better or worse than the one before it to be honest.

Internet Explorer isn't something you'd use as your main browser but for me it is a better option to pull that up for a guide than using ALT+TAB back to the desktop

i hate it, it is becoming more of a problem locating things. Honestly I'm waiting for them to stop making games for Xbox and turning it into a full blown media center.

That happened? I haven't connected my 360 to the internet long enough to allow any updates to happen so I haven't seen the new thing quite yet and am reluctant to download it. Don't know why I feel such anxiety over it...maybe I'm just afraid Microsoft will start to notice that I'm not using the pointless add-ons or subscribed to their mostly pointless gold service.

Well to me with this update the 360 has become a low end media PC.

Both can play games, both can do basic office work (the 360 by going to Skydrive), both can play a selection of media formats.

With Microsoft pushing the 360 more a media hub for the living room than just a games console, they are now inviting direct comparison to the PC.

I absolutely despise the conversion they have made over the years from Xbox to Advertisementbox. The menu screen is now harder to navigate and convoluted deliberately so that you have to trawl through countless advertisements to be able to change settings or play a damn game. I pay for a 'gold' subscription just to get plagued with ads? I'm definitely giving up on console gaming after this generation and sticking to PC and Nintendo handhelds, no way am I buying the next Xbox.

I hated the previous metro dash with a passion, it's so inefficient compared any PC webstore, the new dash seems to be a slight improvement, more icons and less wasted screen realestate

I hate it slightly less than the previous version. I mean, at least they had someone slightly intelligent working on the design this time and organised the different categories better, made the panels cover more of the screen (while making some panels larger and some smaller which makes no damn sense) and the pin thingy seems interesting I guess.

Of course they didn't change anything major about the handicap they had to inflict on the interface to incorporate kinect functionality properly which I will never forgive Microsoft for. Not to mention that advertisements are still everywhere and playing games (you know, the main function of the machine) doesn't seem to actually be the main purpose when you look at the main menu.

Then again, I don't really use my xbox for anything other than actually playing games, talking to friends or playing games while talking to friends so it has no real impact on me. On average I spend about ten seconds looking at the home screen before I press the play button. So I couldn't care less what they do with it honestly.

TL;DR: They fixed some minor stuff, but it's still crap. Not that it really matters to me.

What's this about having to pay for Internet explorer? I live in AUS and have not been prompted to pay for anything yet.

It makes my main screen loading times longer, and it's ugly and overly complicated. So yeah, I hate it.

The "Ad Optimization Update"

Twice the ads, double the fun!

I don't necessarily mind it. Sure, ads suck, but they're relatively easy to ignore. Plus there's the rare occasion were the ads actually point me to something I'd like to buy.
