I wouldn't say that or else 900 angry fans will knee jerk you into not caring. I have been dealing that for the last 2 days assuming that Skills were going to play a big part in Skyrim.Nami nom noms said:Funny thing is, i actually thought of skyrim when i saw the new bond title... so in that sense the two COULD be confused;
whereas scrolls and the elder scrolls never blurred together even slightly.
Short version: Bethesda are idiots.
The Fewer the letters, the more lawsuits. I think this is something a company should take into mind when copyrighting commonly used/short words.zipzod said:Skyrim, Skyfall, Skyward Sword, Skyoshock - the list grows. This is why you shouldn't try to copyright a 3-letter word. They'd have to sue everybody.
I know what i mean. I can't help it - everytime someone mentions rimjob i am not sure how to react. :]Smithburg said:.... I really hope you mean rimshot, otherwise your lickin assJesterRaiin said:...rimjobzipzod said:Skyrim, Skyfall, Skyward Sword, Skyoshock
reminds me of the search engine nexus.. where a result becomes so common that you cannot handle itDunkerloop said:The Fewer the letters, the more lawsuits. And so is ID Software going by this logic and Arcane studios.Nami nom noms said:Funny thing is, i actually thought of skyrim when i saw the new bond title... so in that sense the two COULD be confused;

Scapist Magazin would be in trouble for a startThe Lugz said:reminds me of the search engine nexus.. where a result becomes so common that you cannot handle it
for example, Google generates
25,090,000,000
results for documents containing 'e'
that'd be a lot of lawsuits if someone copyrighted e right?
I guess so but it just ruffles my feathers when people seem to think that Bethesda are just picking on the little new guy just 'cos.Alfador_VII said:Yes I know it's mainly about dumb trademark laws rather than trademark trolling by Zenimax/Bethesda. And that Mojang aren't entirely in the right on their handling of this matter.UBERfionn said:People keep jumping at Bethesda over this but they are just defending their trademarks. Win or lose they still need to defend it to prevent a "The Oldest Scrolls" game form coming out.
However that would ruin my original "joke"![]()
It probably wouldn't matter even if they called the next bond film Skyrim, because that's not how trademark law works. The whole basis is you have to demonstrate that there is a potential for confusion, but if the products are inherently different that makes litigation much harder.Nyaliva said:The Bond films are based off the books by Ian Flemming (or at least they're supposed to be) and thus (I would assume) the titles are as well. Given this (possible) fact, if any legal action is taken it should be Ian Flemming suing Bethesda. Although why they're bringing out 007: Skyfall so close to Skyrim might be a point in Bethesda's favour. But no, no suing should occur, you can't sue for having a name close to the name of your product. There's no case.
Sorry about the ambiguity but I don't really know and at 12:40am I don't really have the strength to find out for myself.
I really hope they send the guy from Falling Down to Bethesda if they do that...Hey they could make a sequel from that. Falling Down 2: The Revengening.babinro said:I predict a class action lawsuit including but not limited to:
Skyrim
Skyward Sword
Falling Down (movie)
