Seriously, robots over riding their programming due to love and the ever facepalm worthy "I remember you, raggedy man, and you are LATE FOR MY WEDDING!" bringing someone back into existence by just remembering them...
Which is so much better than building a Giant Cyberman under London for a mind-controlling whore, or having Rose absorb the TARDIS, or having a planet built around a traffic jam...

It's already been established that mental/emotional energy have their own ability to influence matter in the Whoniverse. In fact, that was the crux of "The Sound of Drums" where it created Sparkly Jesus Doctor Who.

Simply crossing the line into giving a construct (Autons are plastic) emotions is nothing.

Here a list of excellent American TV shows that only have 13 episodes:
The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Rescue Me, The Shield, Deadwood, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Which just won the Emmy, over Lost...

What is he smoking? I don't care if most bbc shows are 5-6 episodes a season, 13 episodes BARELY makes for a season. Not ever having 20 episodes is pretty in-excusable as far as I'm concerned.
That's actually really solid number for a season. Especially if the show's British.

Well color me intrigued. I loved Moffat's run and am curious to see what he's got planned this time (besides the Neil Gaiman episode which I CAN NOT wait for.)

I am wondering though if the season split is going to be a sort of "return to form" to the old style of Who, where multiple episodes were taken to tell a complete story instead of each episode being self contained.

I think it's good news, I mean it reduces the wait until the next series/story arc. Plus the even better news is that apparantly there will be no daleks next year!

Intresting idea. I will say that Dr Who does seem to pass by really, really quick. So, will be nic to see it a lil more spread =D

Well Mad Men is a good show. But Breaking Bad is superior to both Lost and Mad Men COMBINED!

I'd gladly take ads every 10 mins in exchange for a 25 episode season.
Quality over Quantity, and i'll take it gladly.
Doctor Who has masses of potential for quality. A lot of the singular episodes could've been quite easily extended into double part episodes and the doubles could've been extended further.

Plus there is a MOUNTAIN of potential available from the series. The time war for example could give at least 50 episodes easily.

Dexter is a poor example because they are doing the bare minimum with the story. It started off as him hunting criminals with a main plot intertwined throughout each episode, such as the ice truck killer, but now it has downgraded itself to continual references to his personal life and they spent *way* too much time on his home life and you very rarely ever get to see him actually hunting criminals now. The rest of them, meh.

But as I said above, there is a near infinite pit of potential for Doctor Who. He has NINE HUNDRED YEARS of lifetime to explore. Realisitically they could make a season 50 episodes long and still have plenty of material left. They simply keep going back to the now stale enemies such as the daleks and cybermen.

As long as buy the end of the year I've watched at least 13 episodes of Dr who I'm happy.

I like Matt smith, almost more then David.

One thing though. Why not just make the season longer then 13. Why not 20 split into two chunks of 10?
