I find a lot of games sacrafice good frame rate for graphics..Heavenly Sword, anything produced by EA Sports, Skate. , Gears of War etc.

do you find the framerate is as good as the last generation?

well this is mostly pointed towrds Console games. framerate on PC games can be unavoidalbe due to specs.

Consoles however should be fit to be sync with the specs.

Apparently every RTS on console (which is pretty much 360 only, I don't know if there is any RTS games on PS3) other than BfME - is gimped heavily, and then has a bad frame rate put on top of it just so to see how often it can make you do this:

Warhammer Battle March came out for 360 recently, man, I can't imagine that on a console. Let alone supcom with it's enormous scale.

Man, I hope Halo Wars and Endwar are good - console RTS may be a step forward but it seems to be quite a letdown recently.

I haven't played many on a console that had framerate issues. Though the ones I have played it was ... kind of annoying. Gears was one, I think Shadow of the Collosus had this happen a bit, too. The frame-rates have been only barely sketchy, though, so I can get over it.

Overall I don't think it's as much a comparison of generations so much as a comparison of developers wanting to use more resources than they have available. Or at least not trying to super-optimize their code.

Oh yeah guys, lets not forget Mass Effect on 360. Dead Rising also had it's issues but it was actually doing pretty good for the majority of the game.

Lets hope the Fall update can fix that issue, assuming everyone is willing to install the game.

Any other console games with a noticeably bad frame rate even though they shouldn't have anything less than 40 FPS?

If anything, I feel graphics have come to a dead-stop in development, and framerates are in turn catching up quite nicely. If anything needs working on now, it's that damn lag you get with FPS autosaves, some being just a milisecond hiccup like Halo, but some like FEAR actually stop the game for about 15s.
I actually wouldn't mind if they'd stop making supremely pretty games which suck massive ass, but... that's just me. ;)

I would like an option on the Xbox 360 dashboard to use a higher frame-rate with Standard Definition visuals as I don't have HDTV yet seem to be paying for the computational cost of it in the overloaded render cycle. Maybe this could be done by having more than one version of the game on the DVD as you may have to stream lower resolution textures from closer to the DVD drive's spindle to get close to 60fps, whilst an HD enabled game would use the version around the DVD's outer edge.

Personally, I found PGR3 at 30fps acceptable, but I've played games that are lower than that, which periodically turn to 'treacle' and I just feel that the developers need to rein in their ambitions rather than have us play the barely functioning prototypes of the next generation.

but if you were to ake a game that was plagued the horrid FPS. Killzone, for example. and gave it 60 FPS, think there would be less hate on it?

I recently played Killzone using my PS3, runs a hellava better. And in truth, I started to like the game.

Killzone's shoddy framerate was only part of the problem, though. Fixing it would make it better, of course, but that doesn't go very far to actually making it a better game -- just a mediocre one which is slightly less painful to play. This is a fact that developers are going to have to learn sooner or later: pretty = better but pretty + shitty = pretty shitty.

With exception of Pro Evos replays i have to say i'm pleased enough with this gens frame rate.

I didnt find anything wrong with Heavenly sword and (although i only played the demo) Skate was fine aswell.

Don't know the Processor. It's Dual Core and 2.0 GHz 'is all I know.
2 GB Ram
nVidia GeForce 6150LE
Some Mouse I bought at London Drugs
Runs Half Life 2 Episode 2 at 768x520 at about 38-45 fps (72 inside Vents with the flashlight).
Works for me.

I probably would not upgrade it until the whole thing broke or God commanded me to do so.

The worst offender I have ever found for a console game was ODIN SPHERE for the PS2! That game became unplayable at some parts due to the framerate slowing to a crawl. I can understand it happening with a PC game (especially with my POC PC) and not having the right specs but it is inexcusable for it to happen with a console game IMO. What good are great graphics if the framerate chugs? It looks like crap!
