Yeah I'm done with the current gen. My 360 is solely used to play Gears of War multiplayer and my PS3 almost never gets turned on for anything. I mostly do my gaming on the PC these days.
you don't turn on your ps3 ? can you give it to me then ? have you played all the Uncharted, LBP,Heavy Rain,Resistance,Killzone, etc and all other exclusives ?
I have indeed. Though it will see some use when I pick up Ni No Kuni. And also when Tales of Xillia comes out

I am currently playing Tales of Graces F on my PS3. I got a PS3 almost 2 months ago because of that game. I still got some use for that one, but I haven't played Xbox 360 in ages and the Wii U is backwards compatible and most of my gaming is on a PC so I guess I am ready for the new generation.

I play on a computer anyway. I'll never buy a console that is anti consumer. I will get a WiiU Once they release a new Zelda Game for it however.

Yes. I was done with the Wii around 2011 (Which is Why I got the WiiU for Christmas), I've been done with the PS3 since 2010, and the Xbox 360 I'm finally finishing. I feel it's about time for new Hardware to come out to increase the performance of Software, though that won't happen till 2 years after all the consoles have been released.
no you are not done with ps3. you have yet to play Uncharted 3,Killzone 3, Resistance 3,The Last of Us and Beyond:Two Souls.

Years ago I was ready for new tech to replace the shitbox and the PS3. My PC has been dying to not have pre-gimped games run on it. Finally we'll be getting that opportunity. The future moves forward OP, stop vying to delay that shit!

Bizarrely, ever since I switched to PC gaming through Steam, my Wii has been the console with the most games I play regularly. None of them are exactly recent, but my PS3 is essentially a Dragon's Dogma machine and DVD player, my 360 hasn't been turned on in probably a year. My Wii is my only current-gen console that I play more than one game on. I don't use it much, but it's still more than the other two.

I would of liked to keep the current gen around for a bit longer, new generations tend to have a lot of terrible terrible games trying to test the water before (about 2-3 years later) the good games start coming out.

I also will have to make the annoying decision of Xbox/PS4 which I'm not looking forward too. Yes for some of you it's a choice of 'get both' but I'm poor and can't do that, the choice I make will pretty much be final. As much as I want to stick to Xbox the Playstation about of exclusives are vastly superior.

There's more to better hardware than just better graphics. More than a half gig of RAM would be nice. The benefit to the PC ports alone!

I got a ps3 not to many months ago so would of liked the current gen to be around a little longer.

Yeah, we really, really don't need new consoles at all. There isn't much else consoles need to do. Having graphics improved to an extent you'd have to squint to even notice and shorter load times aren't worth forking out hundreds for and losing all online multiplayer and DLC I don't have installed for current-gen consoles.

Because that's something people don't seem to think about. Or at least not enough people. If there's a new console generation, there'll be a new online network for each console. When the Xbox 360 came out, the original Xbox Live was taken down, along with all online multiplayer and downloadable content, and nearly all PS2 game servers are also down. If PSN and the current Xbox Live go the same way when the next generation comes out, that means any DLC you have that you can't fit onto your console will be gone permanently, you'll never get full use from games with online passes or on-disc DLC, multiplayer-focused games that you paid good money for will become useless, etc etc. I know they might just use the current system or merge it in with the next one, but since they dumped the old networks when the new ones went up I'm not so sure. "We needed to get rid of them because of financial and compatibility issues" is too good an excuse for them to pass up.

I'm struggling to keep my eyes open right now so what I just said probably made no sense whatsoever, but you probably get the gist of what I'm saying.
Basically, no. I ain't done with my 360 and PS3. They work well enough for me.
There's more to better hardware than better graphics. Consoles manage to have satisfactory graphics even though by comparing the PC and console versions of Crysis tell us that there's potential for improvement. Trees in the PC version have to be trimmed down in the port making a lush forest seem like a sad dying forest. It doesn't look bad, so I am not actually complaining about that.

The consoles right now have 512MB of RAM (PS3 have 256 graphics and 256 regular). I searched for a short while to see if it's actually possible to even get 512MB chips right now and it took a few sites before I found some who still had it. 8GB of RAM is currently cheaper than a new game depending on type. It is also a major bottleneck for games these days. Take Skyrim's notorious issues on PS3. Lack of RAM limits the current consoles capabilities a lot. I have had issues with several games that can be traced back to lack of RAM.

Err yes, I am completely done with current gen. In fact I was sick of current gen at least 2 years ago. Absolutely cannot wait for next-gen consoles.

BUT - wait for it - not because I want to BUY or PLAY on next-gen consoles. God no. The hardware will be junk compared to PC's even from 2-3 years ago, there is bound to be some level of bullshit that MS/Sony tacks on (no used games, always online, no backwards compatibility?)...plus the inability to use anything other than the provided proprietary controller(s) is the nail in the coffin for consoles as far as I'm concerned.

No, the reason I'm looking forward to next-gen is because we'll finally see some decent console-to-PC ports! Next-gen consoles look like they will be using hardware/software platforms a lot closer to PC than ever before, so we'll be seeing drastically better-looking games with more complex AI and all the goodies that aren't possible on console hardware (hint: input methods).
So yeah, the sooner this generation is over the better.

Don't worry console fans, your 7-year-old toasters aren't going anywhere. When next gen comes out your PS3/360 won't magically vanish. My cousin has a perfectly functional PS2 lying around + a nice collection of classic games, did anything happen to those when PS3 came around? Of course not, they'll be around forever!

PC gaming master race checking in here, and yes, I'm ready for new consoles. Reduced costs for production in a number of factors thanks to not having to optimise as hard, more leway with processor power and RAM amounts to do some actually interesting things with games and keep them looking good, and PC ports not being quite as crappy as they are now.

At the same time, however, I haven't moved on from the PS2 as far as consoles go. Nothing on 360/PS3 interested me, and the N64/PS2 have enough fun and more original games that I can't find similies of on my PC easily that I'm fine sticking with them, and building up my PC. Maybe if consoles actually do something interesting I'd be interested in them, but if they just keep being ultra-budget PCs... yeah, not seeing the point.

Well, the release of the Wii U couldn't have come at a better time for me; from the sound the disk drive on my Wii was making, I think it's on its way out.

As for PS4? Well, if I can play my PS3 games on it, and there's a new LittleBigPlanet, InFAMOUS or Batman: Arkham game, then I'll bite. Otherwise, not that interested.

I'm still happy with my 360 and I still have a backlog to get through. If the rumours about the new gen turn out to be true (no used games, always online etc) then I'll probably make the switch to PC eventually. If I've gotta put up with that bullshit I may as well take the stronger machine.

My unplayed games queue for this gen is good for more than a year, possibly close to two. So no, I still have tons of games to play on my current setup.

Seeing as I get to play 5 games a year, tops, I wouldn't say I am done with my PS3 yet.
If my current gaming habits are anything to go by, I will never be "done" with it, since purchasing a new console really wouldn't be justified at the moment or ever.
If anything I would buy a new guitar, not a new console.

I'm a PC gamer, so I can't say I care all that much about it. I can't tell either if a new generation of consoles means less interest in the PC from developers or, on the contrary, better quality in cross-platform games. We shall see when we shall see.

Console gamer here and I'm still quite content with my 360 and soon Wii U and probably won't touch the PS4 or 720 until much later on down the line when their libraries expand more.

that and my PC has taken around a year to build so yeah fuck that side of gaming for a while.

I think the people clamoring for a new generation are also the type of people who will ***** at the initial price points for the PS4 and NextBox and also whine about lack of games for them at launch. The general public just doesn't give a shit. And the kind of developers who are whining for it will be the first to go belly up once production costs rise (AGAIN) due to their irresponsible behavior. The fact of the matter is that all this tech is WASTED on current developers who don't really do anything with it aside from just making textures prettier. I'm in no rush for the new gen and I really don't see WHY we need a new one other than because developers are sweating bullets over being exposed as people who used the current gens to make stuff prettier, not better.
