Cool news, some notes:

- It would be relevant to say that the Xbox360 kinect has both private and M$ drivers for PC, like right now.

- The current kinect is used mainly for scientific and artistic endeavours, with cool results. Your readers seem utterly lost as to why people bought kinects for their PCs.

I really feel this should have been mentioned in your article.

Am I the only one here that finds this completely and utterly creepy?

I will say no, you are not the only one, but this an opinion that can only be qualified as utterly uninformed. Detecting an illegal use of kinect capabilities in your PC would be more or less trivial, and would lead to a massive lawsuit against M$; it's like saying you fear the army because it will turn US into a fascist country or to fly due terrorist, while not impossible scenarios they are so implausible it's hilarious to take them seriously.

The old kinect was a godsend to some university AI and robotic projects, ez, cheaper than the options and very functional. I was very tempted to buy it just to digitalize shit, back when I modeled in 3D in my free time.
