Vietcong was the best 'Nam game ever, and one of the first. The new COD could be awesome, if they just capture the tension and don't just throw in as many gunfights as possible. Throw in some boobytraps, but not too many.

The next CoD (CoD: Black Ops) could be set anywhere at the moment. It's rumoured to be send you to all different times and locations, so keep your fingers crossed for 'Nam.

Signs point it will be like COD2 where the you jump all over the place from north-africa 1940, Stalingrad 1942, back to 1941 africa, jump froward to Kursk then Normandy then back again. Only instead of jumping all over the Second World War, it will be jumping all over the Cold War.

So that means not just Vietnam but Korea, Central America, Afghanistan.

Who knows, Treyarch might just have the balls to try an alternative universe where the Cold War does go hot and the nukes do fly, then it turns all Red Dawn and end of the world. Like the nuke level of COD4 only the entire world.

For all we know it could be a prequel to Cod 4.

VERY unlikely, Infinity Ward and Treyarch don't get on well with each other at all, they weren't even permitted to use Captain price in COD3. They also missed a trick with World at War, wouldn't it be great if you could have actually played Zackhaiyev to give a frame of reference to his villainous nationalism (bit like playing Big boss in MGS3)... but no, Infinity ward just would not have it and I don't think Treyarch even wants it.

Really, Treyarch's COD games are just about as separate series as they can be yet still operate under the same franchise.

Battlefield: Vietnam was awesome. Got me into online FPS. I would love a current gen remake. Nothing beats killing people with punji sticks and caltrops, invading the base on Hueys while blasting Ride of the Valkyries, racing around on scooters to Surfin' Bird (Ba-ba-ba-ba-bird bird bird, bird is the word!), shooting up VC in tanks to WAR! HUH! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR!, dropping napalm on VC while blasting Shakin' All Over, and digging a tunnel behind the enemy's base so your team can rush it from behind.

I don't know why but your post just gave me an interesting (if not yet fully formed idea) Treyarch could use captain Macmillan (the commander from the sniper level in cod4) as a player character (if infinity ward gives them the license to do so)
