Next generation of consoles will probably feature motion controls as standard: deal with it.

Wont happen maybe there be the option but sony and microsoft wont risk there main fan base by forcing them to use motion controls.

So no need to deal as if they arent going to force people to use wireless controllers they wont force motion controls.

If that is indeed the case, I'll forever stick with the PS2/PS3/SNES/N64 thank you very much.
Amen to that.

But on top of that...

What the Hell happens to the PC in this little dystopia of yours?

Motion control is a fad, a gimmick, and a waste of time and energy that leads to massive flash floods of shovelware, as a stroll through the Wii aisle at Best Buy quickly indicates.

I'll stick to keyboard and mouse, serving gaming well since before most Escapists were born (and hell, if Bill Gates writing a blackjack game for FORTRAN in 1975 counts as "gaming", since before I was born!)

I'm with Julian. All I can say is, I hope you're wrong. If not, no big deal, I'm starting to solidify as a PC gamer anyway. (How weird would it be if PC went motion somehow?)
Well if this does come to pass it would pretty much be the end of mainstream gaming on the PC. Valve and Blizzard (with their long dev cycles as it is) aren't enough to keep it going. Although I doubt it will happen in the first place. Everyone likes to believe the Wii is kicking ass and it is in hardware sales. But we all know the real money is in the software and the Wii doesn't excel in that area.

I think that microsoft and sony would want to appeal to the hardcore audiences still because they will notice a HUGE drop in people if its only motion control. Im a pretty die hard microsoft fan but i wouldnt buy the next console if it was motion control only

There's a reason I never play my Wii anymore. If what you say is true, it'll be the same reason for my going back to gaming on the pc or older consoles. I'm not completely against it, but at least give me the option.

Example: Before I had my PS3 I rented Madden 10 for the Wii. Instead of sitting back and playing a quick game or 2, the game gave me no option other than flinging my arms around like a crackhead playing charades on a bender. That was the last Wii game I got for myself.

You also have to think about what that would do to developers. I'm sure Polyphony Digital would be thrilled to find out that they've got to make Gran Turismo 6 with only motion control. I'm sure Marvel vs. Capcom would be a blast if I had to swing my arm around instead of using the d-pad. The fans will love that.

Lets face it, motion control doesn't always work, and it's rare that it does work out well enough that I prefer it over a standard controller (RE4:Wii). But there's no way in hell MS or Sony will force that on us with no other option.

too much info on this unoriginal thread for me to consider actually reading. do you not think there is a reason they keep the text size the same normally? ffs i've seen less small print on a insurance agreement.

Honestly I really don't care. I like the Wii and think people give it more hate than it really deserves. And heck maybe by next generation Nintendo will make Motion controls much better. It might be like 3D games. Wasn't so great at first but in 1 or 2 generations its considered great and the norm.
