Now, I don't like to discriminate against people's taste in TV, but I'm slightly confused about how anyone over the age of 7 could possibly be excited about Power Rangers. Pleaasssee pleaasee please tell me you don't actually like it.
I don't follow Power Rangers or any Super Sentai series but I can see the appeal. It's basically a mix between Avengers and Transformers except episodic. Guys in silly costumes doing martial arts and fighting monsters, with huge explosions going off every other second. Then, at least once per episode[footnote]At least from what I hear[/footnote] there's a giant robot fight with even more explosions.

Also I've seen clips from another Super Sentai series where a bunch of super-nerdy japanese basement dwellers are turned into Super Sentai and who just get their asses kicked every other second. From what I've watched it was hilarious.

Also, don't go judging people over something you have little experience with.

Really? That is what they are going with?

How can those costumes look cheaper and dumber than the first series made 2 decades ago? Why the white pants? Why do the weapons look even more plastic than normal? When you know your series is finally going to be nostalgic to adults, why are you not taking advantage of that money giving market?
You are aware that Saban don't get much of a choice when it comes to the look of the costumes. They use the footage from the Japanese Super Sentai series. And Power Rangers is one of those shows were a significant portion of the sales comes from the toy sales. Unfortunately for Saban, adult Power Ranger fans with money would rather get the much higher quality toys/models from the Japanese versions.

The suits don't look cheap to me, I quite like the design. And I see nothing wrong with having all white pants, it looks good and is something different. I find your comment on the plastic weapons quite amusing, since in Mighty Morphin, whenever they had to film there own stuff, the weapons and props were all the toys from the Super Sentai.
I thought they stopped using the Super Sentai footage years ago, and been making their own footage using New Zealand actors (which ironically banned the show for the longest of times).

I have no hope for this show. Gosiegers was terrible, and Samurai was terrible. I lost all faith for Saban and Power Rangers a long time ago. But Sentai...Sentai is just fucking awesome. Especially Gokaiger. They might actually make a decent adaptation out of the pirate-anniversary theme.

The video is edited at the end but that is not the part I am talking about.

No, seriously though. Power Rangers are still going? Huh. I remember desperately wanting a power rangers costume when I was a kid. I never did get one. ;_;
Next year will be the 20th anniversairy ^___^

You'll be surprised, some of the shows have been good.

You know what would be awesome... If the Power Rangers teamed up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles again.

That blew my fucking mind the first time I saw that episode(s).

Good oh nostalgia.

No they've never stopped incorporating the Super Sentai material. But you're right about moving to New Zealand. It was after Disney bought the series they moved as apparently it is a lot cheaper there for some reason.

Although some series have had more original footage than others (The Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue was an original ranger with no Super Sentai counterpart) the majority of the fight scenes and all the robot battles are taken straight from Super Sentai. Buying the rights to the footage it just a lot cheaper and easier than making there own stuff it would seem.

Even though I haven't watched a full series in 10 years, it's scary how much I know about Power Rangers.

Heh, I had the red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger suit when I was 7.

It was one of the happiest days of my childhood when I saw the suit in my room one morning when I woke up.

Oh, still going?

Must admit, RPM was very good. Did a better job of being Terminator: Salvation than Terminator: Salvation did, not a bad job of being Mad Max either.

Damn awesome title song too.

On topic though, PR is a guilty pleasure for me, always liked the concept,
and some of the seasons were pretty awesome actually, "In Space" was pretty sweet.
And i haven't seen recent seasons, but Linkara's recaps are pretty handy for that.

That, and they tend to dub it here for the kids, i hate the Dutch language....brrr...

Well, it was on when I was a kid, but I remember watching it and finding it laughable even when I was about 6. I hated how colourful their costumes were and I found it cheesy even at such a young age. I hated the way whenever something happened they would be sent flying thrgh the air. I don't know... I just kind of viewed it as crap, and didn't get why people liked it.

I liked shows like Yvonne of the Yukon (now that was a good show) and Arthur. I dunno, I've never been into Anime or the Japanese style of childrens shows at all to be honest. Guess it's just me.

ok if your profile is accurite you saw the show around its 5th season which i beleave was turbo which was probibly the worst of the origenal seasons so i dont blame you for not likeing it. now if you go back and watch the first through fourth seasons youll find that while they were cheesy but it was that good kind of cheesy like bad voice overs and such,
the same reasons some people like the old godzilla english dubs you know?

Knowing what RPM was like (i.e. awesome) under Disney, then what Samurai and Super Samurai were like (i.e. complete crap) under Saban's direction when they took Power Rangers back, I'm hoping that Saban don't stuff this one up. But, given the crappy name of that season... I don't think I'll be surprised if they do stuff it up after all.

Yeah, I think they'll screw it up.
Given that RPM was Disney's last season with the show, they let the directors go ape with it, and seeing as the directors THOUGHT it would be the last season of Power Rangers, they did go absolutely ape with it. Let's not forget what Disney did to the show shall we? (Suffocating the Forever Red crossover for one T_T COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE AWESOME!)
Yeah, but at least the Forever Red episode was pretty good compared to the Once A Ranger cross-over.

Forever Red was good enough, but it could've been better if it was given more than 20 minutes of air-time (if that makes sense). Once A Ranger, on the other hand, needed a LOT of improvement, despite having two episodes dedicated to it.

What I find interesting is that Time Force was Saban's last season before they passed PR to Disney and Time Force was AWESOME. Then the situation reversed itself and as you mentioned, RPM was Disney's last season and it was AWESOME. I'm sensing a theme here.

I think I remember seeing Time Force when it aired on Fox back in 2001. It was pretty good. I think it was because it didn't treat itself like a kids show. It was dark in some places and mature.

Yeah, the first and only thing that pops into my mind when I think of Power Rangers is and always has been second graders.

Like, it's on the same level as BK Lights and Creepy Crawlers. Great for when you're a boy under 10 in 1992.

I can't possibly see myself getting this excited if I heard they were bringing back David the Gnome or some shit.
