There has been no hint that Sony will charge for the PSN in the next generation, so that extent that I care about this is that we can stop calling it the 720
Waiting till E3 would probably be a little bit of PR suicide because they would lose a lot of attention in the general E3 deluge. And I think they've already been hurt a lot by the PS4 announcing first (unless all the rumours are true, in which case there only hope is to never ever tell us about it and hope someone buys one by mistake). I agree 26 days is a really weird timescale, but you do need to preannounce these things so that the news sites can prepare and anyone who wants to see it has time to find out about itluvd1 said:

I agree with this. E3 this year will be a big year, with Nintendo shoving out it's heavy hitters, Sony showing the actual PS4 and maybe some surprises and Microsoft getting in Jay-Z. It would be better for Microsoft to get the console announcement out of the way so they can focus on games.BrotherRool said:

With the release of Halo 4 and GoW Judgement recently, I'm genuinely interested in the exclusives they bring as their big guns have just been used.
Features-wise... meh. Not much I want that I think they'll implement. Modability? Cross-platform play? Those'll be the days. Just make XBL free, don't have any of stupid features and that's the best I can hope for. I expect the processing power to be an improvement, but don't spend hours talking about it as though it's the main selling feature.

I highly doubt RDR3 will be one of the release exclusives they announce considering GTA5 is waiting in the wings for the new consoles to finish announcing themselves.

Well only time will tell just how this will turn out, i know they need to keep somethings hidden so there's going to be.....suspense? is that right? for the xbox's main features or to have time to mitigate the damage with this presentation if their E3 reveal will end sour, all i know is that the videogame industry's future ain't looking bright here.
I'm not sure if there has ever been a console reveal that helped bolster it's hype and reassured everyone that this console is gold, the only one that comes to mind is the ps2 but i have no idea how that went, was to young to have an interest in gaming then.

if it's gonna be called that, it's gonna be hard to name the next console that replaces it afterwards. I highly doubt this is it's actual name, unless MS has a better subtitle to name their inevitable next-next gen console than infinity.Timmey said:

I got a PS3 almost exclusively for Red Dead Redemption! Because of it I suppose I also got to play Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2, Infamous, and God of War 3, but really RDR was the first and only reason I had for getting a console. Without it, my PS3 would not be sitting up gathering dust once I tired of all those games.thiosk said:
