I agree with everything this man said, including his responses to other escapists. And it wouldn't be a flag for delay of game, but for making it go faster, which the NFL has been changing its rules to do for a long time. (Shorter halftimes, pass-oriented gameplay, etc.)

I was going to mention that the Madden games you speak of with the huge gains and big plays remind me of a series known as NFL Blitz, which is quite an arcadey football game, but it's pretty fun to put on, play for like 20 minutes, and have a good time with. The last one I played was NFL Blitz 2003, and I am unsure if the series has been continued or has become better or worse, but the game required that a first down take 30 yards. Just sounds like something you'd like, cooperace27.

As for the article, simply hilarious and amazing at the same time. I know that a lot of NFL games come down to time control and time of possession, but that's a great play by that receiver. Pretty much seals the game off.

I actually own Blitz 1999 and 2001 for the PS1, but I play NFL Street more. It just sucks that they stopped all the "Street" franchises and EA Sports BIG. I think I bought every single EA BIG made...

It took a video game to give someone the idea to run down the clock? Wow.

ust as he was about to score, Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokley cut right and ran along the end zone line, eating up the last precious seconds of the game. It was a move right out of any Madden players book; never give the opponent time for a comeback.
It sort of makes you wonder why nobody else has ever tried that before now, doesn't it?
Actually it happens all the time. Its Stokely admitting that this particular instance was inspired by Madden that makes it a big deal. But really its a pretty standard thing to do.
