So, in League of Legends, they originally put out a champion named Sejuani who looked like this: http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130501082240/leagueoflegends/images/0/00/Sejuani_TraditionalSkin.jpg

Then they decided later on that it was 'unrealistic' for someone who lives in the arctic to wear a bikini top, and so they changed her to this: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130501082244/leagueoflegends/images/c/cb/Sejuani_OriginalSkin.jpg

Now their new champion, Braum, is from the same region that Sejuani is from. Except he looks like this: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140426014136/leagueoflegends/images/0/06/Braum_OriginalSkin.jpg

So why is it okay for Braum to be shirtless but a bikini top is too little?

As such, I demand that Sejuani's shirt be removed. If Braum doesn't need one, then she doesn't either. Unless you want to imply that women can't handle the temperature but men can. Sexist.

Yeah I mean it's not like they have the main ruler of that same ice land running around in a backless outfit and a skirt.

On a more serious note, exactly what point are you trying to make here?

If men are allowed to run around without a shirt on, then women should be allowed to run around without a shirt on.

New York agrees apparently, since their Supreme Court determined that anywhere men could go without a shirt, women could as well.

Honestly rendition two is much better and a whole lot less generic anyway.

Hey, just get the community to point that out and maybe they'll change it too. Pretty sure the artist would love the fuck out of the money he/she is getting from this revision. Granted the redesign might look even cooler too.

And yeah there's an argument to be had there about double standards of men being topless vs women being topless (IRL), but topless men in video games usually aren't portrayed the same way women are in video games. When men are shirtless, it's to show off their big rippling muscles, and with this new guy it's no exception. He looks like he's been abusing steroids since the age of 13. With the woman however, it's really more just to show she has boobs. It's...not quite the same.

Oh please, we all know what this is really about. You just want to see pixel tits (not sure why given there's an entire internet's worth of porn available, but oh well). Might as well have Braum show his schlong as well, seeing how "equality" in this case is exposing a body part society views as taboo.

Or (as I suspect is the case) you're not really serious and this is all just a joke. You'll forgive me if I don't laugh. It's been done to death before.

I do like Sejuani's second outfit a lot more then her first, but I wouldn't mid if she had a topless topless outfit. (Not fur bikini though.) This actually reminds me of a image I want so badly to find, but I can't. It was for the mmo mythic, and it had a a duo shot of the male and female frenzy class, both topless in pants and tattoos. I liked the image so much that I took the idea and played it in a RPG. Yes, people do comment as to why you are topless in the cold and No you really can't make a effect argument to justify it, but the styling of the tattoos and scars meant a lot of people like the look even if it didn't make much sense.

So to sum up. I am fine with a topless character. Not so fine with a fur bikini. I don't think they can get away with a totally topless woman though. Us Americans are kind of fussy about that.

What level of outrage could possibly justify demanding something like this? Has a great injustice been done? Is this driven by a pressing or vital need?

This seems like a wildly disproportionate response that runs the danger of causing a steady collapse in respectful discourse.

...Or yes, it could just be meant as a joke. Sometimes I need signals for that sort of thing or all I can hear is the faintest of swooshing noise as it passes gracefully overhead like a magpie.

This should be totally obvious but have you seen his moves? He's FAR too manly for shirts. They'd probably just rip apart the moment they touched his manly chest. Cmon guys, step it up.

I know your likely joking but...
Was it changed because it was unrealistic or was it changed because she looks boring and non threatening in the first one? because she looks much better in the second, enough to remind that I was actually planning on trying out LoL at some point. If you giver her twice as much muscle mass and have her shirtless then it might be equivalent.

I agree, remove Sejuani's shirt. Replace it with a chestplate that doesn't have ridiculously idiotic boob-cups molded into it.

Also, Shirt or no, Braum is significantly better covered than Traditional Sejuani ever was. He may not have a strap of leather across his chest, but at least everything from the pectorals down are covered.

Hey though, I'm all for changing her back if we can also make Sejuani into a hulking, muscle-bound amazon of a woman with a powerful physical presence and physique that makes her actually look like she could withstand the harsh conditions of the Fjords. Rather than the same generic, wispy mold that every non-Yordle LoL lady is made from on a boar.

The addition of armor to Sejuani had more to do with percieved sexism than a desire to maintain "realism." Any sort of "realism" in League is going to run into problems because it's a game with a walking tree, a scorpion made of crystals, and a woman who's half goat.

A lot of people were complaining about Sejuani's lack of armor before her VU was announced because while the concept of "barbarians not wearing a lot of clothes in the arctic" has been around in fantasy forever, it's always been an eye-candy thing where women are concerned. However, where men are concerned, the trope has always been more of a "hey, look at how MANLY and BADASS this dude is."

You can complain that this is in and of itself a sexist thing to do, but at least it's a form of positive sexism. Considering that pre-VU Sej is still in the game as a skin and Braum is exceptionally badass, I don't see why anyone should get worked up. Yes, Braum is being treated differently than Sej, but it's because his lack of a shirt is supposed to signify a theme of masculine empowerment, compared to the sense of "oooh look at how little clothes I have" feeling pre-VU Sej gave off.

TLDR: This [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa5rW_AJw-U] does not equal this, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2BDhXsHXC8] for reasons that should be obvious. Clothes are being shed (or put on) for completely different artistic reasons.

Hey lady, you probably realize this, but women have breasts. Men usually do not.

What you're basically asking for is a topless woman. Sounds to me like you're just trying to stir up shit for the sake of stirring up shit.

I honestly can't tell if you're being serious.
For one, it's a MOBA. The lore is silly dumb shit that nobody cares about. For two, it's LoL, and game where you can go to literally 90% of other female characters and see basically the same thing.
And for three, it's unrelated but holy fuck both of those two inital designs look kind of... awful. The first one obviously having the usual bikini warrior problems, but goddamn that is a ridiculous amount of boobplate.

-Slow clap-

You, sir or madam, are my hero.

And if we're talking about which bits game characters are allowed to cover or not, I think the cold may have a more adverse effect on a male character's nether regions than on a woman's...

Seriously though, if you want equality you would have to ask women what male character design (including attire or lack thereof) would then translate into them being sexualised. If a topless man does nothing for the ladies, what will?

Heh and here I was, just chalking it up to "Oh hey look, an FMA reference. Now let's see how many microseconds it takes til he gets paired up with Graves in an imitation of the Sig/Alex manly asskicking".

Well Braums' kind of a joke character. He is basically all the manly things in one man. The most interesting man in League if you will.

Him being shirtless is accounted for as well. While Sejuani needs fur armor to thrive in the environment, Braums' such a boss the love of all the poros' ever warm his very core with an aura of awesome. A shirt would just make him sweat.

now you see its a very different situation... its a man, and men cannot possibly be objectified

now a bit more seriously, dont put too much thought into it, even the more "realistic" design for Sejuani is stupid, yeah, all that metal in sub-zero temperatures cant possibly fire back right?

She looks a hundred times better in that second picture anyway. The first picture is just generic boob warrior lady who could have come from any one of hundreds of games, at least the second has a little more character... I mean she's still pretty dang generic looking, but at least now she's a generic looking badass warrior lady instead of the alternative.

It's not sexist when it's true.

I had to start dismantling the thermostat for half of the year because the females I live with would keep turning the heating all the way up to Firaga.

Put on some more clothes, for fuck's sake, 'dis here power bill don't pay for itself.
