Right now VH1 is playing songs about domestic violence. I saw Luka by Suzanne Vega. Now, Janie's Got A Gun by Aerosmith.

There are plenty of songs by Eminem that is about abuse. One particularly creepy cover version was done by Tori Amos, '97 Bonnie & Clyde.

Also, Only Women Bleed by Alice Cooper. A couple really good cover versions were done by Lita Ford and Ike & Tina Turner. Let that last one sink in if you don't have to Google it.

If you are a country music fan, Goodbye Earl by The Dixie Chicks and Gunpowder & Lead by Miranda Lambert.

There are probably are more songs that I am aware of, but the subject is a little depressing to think about for an extended period of time. So, I'll leave you a video of the first song that popped into my head when I first read the OP.

BTW, I don't think Better Man by Pearl Jam is about domestic violence. It's more about a woman who is in a loveless marriage.

You know, you probably could have gotten more people to come into this topic by simply having "Domestic Violence in Songs" as the title. :p

Beyond that, I'd say this about sums up my thoughts on Nickleback:

And at last, OT:

There's actually a lot of songs that deal with domestic violence, as I'd imagine many of the videos posted above this post indicate. Rap, Country, Rock...it's actually a subject that has been covered quite a bit in music.
