So,I'm at home with no internet, and I am replaying my old games, and suddenly, early in final fantasy tactics...

I was creeped out by the stare,as he beckoned his son to come closer.

The point is,what not so meant horrifying moments have you seen?

That weird bat-thing that flew out from behind the counter in one of theearly Silent Hills (1 or 2).

I was 8 or so and I didn't sleep for a week.

The first time I played Resident Evil 2, when the arms grabbed through the boarded up walls.

Legend of Zelda Shadow Temple/Under the Well. Everything about that place freaked me out. Most of the time I would just skip the Shadow Temple and go straight to the Spirit Temple (You didn't really need the Hover Boots to finish it, just to use the elevator by the start of the level)

Also, the entirety of Majora's Mask always creeped me out. It's still my favorite Zelda game, but playing it always seemed to make me on edge.

Although I enjoy them, the Submachine games always put me on edge. The lonely settings and the eerie music make it extremely creepy in places. If you want high octane nightmare fuel, play the Subnet Exploration Experience and go to co-ordinate 666. Go on. I dare you. And crank that volume up before you do so.

First Resident Evil.

Remember the intro of the game? I don't mean the intro when you start a new game, I mean the one before the menu. The guy in the hallway and something attacks him and the camera zooms in to his eye.

It's quite cheesy when I look at it, but back when I played it.....Different story

A few of the hauntings in Silent Hill 4 used to creep me out. The kid in the closet was over terrifying for me for some reason. And the head outside of the window around the time of Building World still scares me a bit.

Those fucking shark things in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Fuck those assholes, they made me terrified of any deep water. I almost died of fright watching some nature show about coral reefs.

shiiiiit. that really was horrifying! I think the point of this thread is stuff that wasn't supposed to be horrifying, but was.

either way, I couldn't play RE2 without my dog sitting right next to me. i think that's the most scared a game has ever made me.
Resident Evil is supposed to be scary? What!? You lie!!!

The MOTHER series.

I know Giygas is well known, but FUCK. all three games Are full to the brim with nightmare fuel.

they basically dance all over the line between humor and fucked-uptivity.

Especially mother 1. jesus, one second Im running down the road listening to "pollyanna" then BOOM rabid dog!

Well, I don't really play any particularly disturbing games. I've never played a Silent Hill game.

However, the Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2 contained the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in a game. I mean, the whole thing was creepy, but the end...

I have never wanted a fictional character to die as much as Gavin Archer, but, sadly, I didn't get the option.

Man, the freaking well scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. And that music... argh...
I know what you mean about Majora's too, that game always gave off this creepy melancholy air.
I loved it. Ikana valley topped anything ocarina had too in terms of the creepy.

If you put this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tPcUX_9HxI] over even a clip of fluffy kittens I'd back away very quickly.
