The shark in Banjo-Kazooie always scared the shit out of me when I was younger.

Also, the dragon pipe in the water temple in Ocarina of Time. A friend told me that it came to life and attacked me, and for some reason, it terrified me to the point of not playing the game for nearly a month. Needless to say, once I found out that was a joke, I did the 4th grade equivalent of kicking his ass... Blamed him for spilling the juice in the classroom. That'll learn him.

Regenerator./thread.
My friend thought it would be clever to shoot out their legs... then he taunted it by standing on it. He was missing a neck after that.

Whatever Resident Evil graced the N64.

I was at a friends house, he played that game in front of me.

Didnt help that my bedroom overlooked a graveyard. Fuck. That.

The entire fucking Killer7. Hearing a Killer Smile laugh his ass off as he dies and explodes in his own blood is definetly the stuff nightmares are made out of.

Deadspace. I couldn't sleep for a few days after playing.
Twinkle...twinkle...little star...
I actually did have a nightmare involving a necromorph infestation on earth. It was wierd, I defeated them using spoons.

Alan Wake gave me the creeps once. I was alone in my house at night, and in a dark part of the house, I swore I heard someone say "Don't Touch the animals!" in that wierd messed up taken voice. I literally ran for the light switch, it was hilarious.

Above all, giant spiders in resident evil. I'm a life long arachnophobe, so really, any game with spiders in.

In Morrowind the old Dwemer dungeons still creep me out. as about the ghosts and scary robot things... until I get to a higher level, then I take them all down in a few blows.
Windwaker creeped me out a lot back when I was little. The game sort of gave me a sense of loneliness as I played it. More than any survival horror game I've ever played. A LOT of me playing that game was wandering around like it was a GTA game, the dungeons scared me so much.
My dad bought me a guide at the store one night after his band rehearsal. The game still scared me, but I finally beat it back in fifth grade. Yeah, it took me that long.

Ahem: REDEADS. In any incarnation, creepy motherfuckers.

http://reimyourou.deviantart.com/art/Curse-of-the-Redead-58005673 sums it up nicely.

And Regenerators and Iron Maidens. And Reapers from RE5 were definitely not fun.

Although I enjoy them, the Submachine games always put me on edge. The lonely settings and the eerie music make it extremely creepy in places. If you want high octane nightmare fuel, play the Subnet Exploration Experience and go to co-ordinate 666. Go on. I dare you. And crank that volume up before you do so.
Interesting. Never heard of this before. I'll just watch a Youtube vid:

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth, a very, very good FPS/Survival horror game for PC and original Xbox. Probably the best game based on Lovecraft ever made.

What me and the person I quoted are referring to is a particularly intense chase scene where the entire village of Innsmouth chases you from your hotel, through the streets. Did I mention you're completely unarmed?

That was a frighteningly in depth explanation in itself. Thank you good sir!

There's a certain part of the Dark Brotherhood questline that I feel meets this description!

The eel from Super Mario 64. Scared me from water in every videogame.

I'm glad you...enjoyed that little encounter. Why not play them? They are, hands down, the best point and click adventures I've ever had. There's plenty more Nightmare Fuel left in them.

Legend of Zelda Shadow Temple/Under the Well. Everything about that place freaked me out. Most of the time I would just skip the Shadow Temple and go straight to the Spirit Temple (You didn't really need the Hover Boots to finish it, just to use the elevator by the start of the level)

Also, the entirety of Majora's Mask always creeped me out. It's still my favorite Zelda game, but playing it always seemed to make me on edge.
Man, the freaking well scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. And that music... argh...
I know what you mean about Majora's too, that game always gave off this creepy melancholy air.
I loved it. Ikana valley topped anything ocarina had too in terms of the creepy.

If you put this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tPcUX_9HxI] over even a clip of fluffy kittens I'd back away very quickly.
I don't remember much of this game but fuck, that creepy fucking guy at the start of the game when you first go in the watch tower, and future hyrule used to creep me out in ocarina of time, ya know the zombies and such?

Dianogas from Star Wars: Dark Forces.

Remember the garbage monster from the movie? Try navigating a sewer full of them in the pitch black. And they respawn, ambush you from underwater, and the whole fucking level is a maze

Oh god the Innsmouth chase scene, oh god the fucking Innsmouth chase scene.

What game is that? I typed in Innsmouth and it just came up with H P Lovecraft (I know, horror novelist everyone seems to love)

Just silent hill, my dad played it with me in the room when I was 8.

So many nightmares set in deserted towns...
