I've been having a lot of nightmares recently. They seem to involve epidemics quite a bit. They are also quite detailed. This means I have to share all of the detail with you, of course!
Example- there were these sluglike things that burrowed under your skin and did unpleasant things to your insides. I had to get a pair of tweezers and remove them from myself and my family. They were fairly easy to pull out, as long as you got to them while they were visible. Right before I woke up, my mum had some burrow deep into her, and I couldn't do anything about it, so we all sat and waited for her to die. I specifically remember looking at the inside of my left arm and seeing about five of them, squirming. The next day, I had to keep checking there just in case.
The most recent one I had involved a series of plagues brought on by Cthulhu-like monsters. One caused an Ice Age, one caused fires, stuff like that. Each one stayed a century, and the only way people could survive was by moving very quickly between areas, so they were never too exposed. Anyway, they stopped all at once, and everyone thought it was over at last. What was left of the cities was salvaged, and life went on. But a few years later, another one emerged. It lived in the sewer systems, and preyed on the human mind. It made a teenage girl viciously attack, kill and eat her best friend, but nobody wanted to believe it was still happening so it was passed off as undiagnosed mental illness. Anyway, I guess that made it angry, because everything that lived in the sewers came rushing out, and all the houses were suddenly infested with rats and cockroaches. (Yeah, that was horrible.) To get our minds off it, there was some kind of show going on. I went along (leaving my family at home) and briefly sat in the audience, but something was off about them, especially the woman I was sitting next to, so I went over to the reception to see if I could help out. There was a kid there about 14 years old, who also hadn't wanted to be part of it, and the two of us sat and wrote out the list of people attending. He said his name was Yule (with an 'e') and the woman I'd been talking to was his mother. Suddenly the door slammed open and something went through the room, and when I looked over to the auditorium there was absolute chaos. Everyone was just killing each other, and I saw the woman grab a little girl and tear her throat out, before being jumped on by about five other people. I told the kid we had to leave, and not to look at the auditorium, but of course he looked, just in time to see his mother be disemboweled. He made a shocked noise, and everyone in that room stopped dead and looked towards us. I grabbed him and ran. As we went through the streets the same thing was happening all around us, and I was praying that my family was safe and unaffected. We had to wade through an ocean of rats before we reached my house, and it was a real effort to close my front door, but we made it. And they were there, unharmed and terrified. We hid under the stairs, all six of us, and waited for either the mob to find and devour us, or this madness to find its way to us.
...Then my alarm went off. I was incredibly tired and I felt like shit, but oh my God that was the most welcome sound in all the world. D:
Sorry if that was tl;dr, and if it's too much text I'll go back and put paragraphs in or something.
