The only real problem I have with a new DMC is that it now has to measure up to Bayonetta, which is a very lofty goal indeed.

Yeah, didn't like, everyone who made the other DMC games good pretty much leave and make Bayonetta? It's the better game in every way, it even has worse dialogue and stupider cutscenes. It's DMC...TO THE MAX!

People keep saying this, but if you'd read the rest of the thread you'd realise that you've been *ahem* ninja'd on that one :p

I disagree anyway. Its the hair that is alike, every facial feature he has looks different. Christ DMC fan's, i'm not counting myself as one of you anymore. Stop whining until we see a decent set of combat clips if you wanna complain about the fighting style. Dark hair will not kill the character. Its a reboot, that's the point >.>
First of all, that haircut looks so ridiculous on a grown man it's worth bringing up multiple times.

Yeah, I watched their videos. It's a stupider looking Dante swinging a scythe at an uninspired enemy designs. One of those videos labelled as game-play was so obviously doctored and enhanced for effect that I could have sworn it was still a capcom in-game cutscene (you know, when your characters do all the cool stuff while you can't control them). You call it a reboot if you want, I call it someone trying to sell me DMC1 again for 60 bucks.

I think we both know that no matter how much logic we try to use,it won't mean shit.
Fans will always be fans and fans are never satisfied.

OT:I still really don't care about Devil May Cry (The Reboot!) and Ninja Theory implying that I want to like it isn't going to be any less of a lie.

Trailer looks Sweet. Personally, I can't care less about like a male character in a game looks. If his visual is edgy like, almost naked using only the Sarah Jessica Parker head as a trunks I may be bother. But all that I see is a dude who carries sharp things and guns.

From what I understand, the only thing they've changed is the main characters look and are focusing on the story.

Why do people hate it?

I accept your challenge Tameem.... I very much enjoyed the first DMC and DMC3 (There's no such thing as DMC2).

I have yet to ever play DMC4. For some reason, I just lost the interest... so I likely won't bother touching this until I feel like playing DMC4.
DM2? were you stuck in a hellhole to find out that existed? lol

We don't hate it because it looks like someone swapped out Dante for Edward
We don't hate it because the Unreal Engine looks terrible with this game
We don't hate it because we somehow hate ourselves
We hate it because you took a dump onto our game by turning the protagonist into YOU!
agreed

Stick to your guns, I'm actually interested in where this DMC ends up.
Maybe I'm alone in having no issue with the new appearance, then again I haven't played other DMC save for the first level of 3 so I guess I don't count.

It's also generally true that any sane person wants every game to be good, or at least they want to be able to like and enjoy every game subjectively.

Dear Ninja Theory, you have found +1 bystander's well wishes in this being a great game.
Here's hoping fan backlash doesn't cost you.

Yes i want to like it...mainly because it's Devil May Cry and the series has been quite awesome. However you're complete changing of Dante and the smugness you're showing in this situation obviously shows me you do not give an absolute shit.

Funny, really, I would say that the original Dante looks more like the second link you gave me. The new one looks like a more gruffer version of the second one, to me anyway.
But, I didn't think Dante was supposed to be brooding and punk looking. I just thought he was supposed to be cool looking. To me, the new Dante looks like a model who's trying to look punky. He's skinny, has short black hair, smokes and looks like a crack addict.

That's fine if you're going for that sort of theme in game but... two problems here. One is that Dante was supposed to be a fun character. No real seriousness to it and he's a bit of a goofy sort of character and he knows it. The new one looks like he's trying too hard to be "badass" and the smoking, to me makes it look even worse. Then you make him look hardened and dirtier but somehow still younger just doesn't work for me.

Then second... well I covered this but the dark and gritty theme that it looks like they're going for isn't what was prominent in the originals. Yeah, I get that it's a reboot but it looks like all they did was make a game, realise it plays like Devil May Cry and slap the name on it. Same with Heavenly Sword. That game played exactly like God of War and even looked like it. How they got away with that is beyond me >.>

I'm open to the idea of this but each new bit of footage just lowers my expectations and as I've said, that assclown developer isn't helping at all.
The only DMC with a serious Dante was 2, and it seems everyone but me hated that game. Then again, Dante did have one or two truly badass lines in that game.

Eh, I don't really know. The look doesn't matter to me at all, DMC has always been about keeping shit in the air for more than twenty seconds and changing weapons at the speed of light. I'll give this game a chance.

Damn...I'm slightly more convinced.

From an article on Destructoid:

"The oontzy techno beat that blasts during combat is dynamic and reacts to your individual play style"

C'mon NT, between the smug ass comments and now the total 180 shift in the music style, you're making this really hard for me.

I wanna like it, I really really do.

TBH I expected that a reboot would change the story and character alot its this 30fps that's got me all worried ninja theory seem obsessed with it the game-play was slow and had lag to it in enslaved so I am worried Dante may feel like a fat ***** when I try to swing the sword providing they keep the sword and not change that to look like the devolpers keyring toy. Please no not eff this up I love Devil May Cry do not turn it into a bad joke because DMC turns out to be a hole different game to Devil May Cry.

I tried to like it, dynamic environments seemed interesting, but the negative changes to the gameplay, storyline, and aesthetic far outweigh the postive changes.

Between all the "cinematic" slo mo of DmC(read the previews) and the "immersive" QTEs of Ninja Gaiden 3, actual action games are dead.

It amazes me how many of you people are still "Derpy derp, you just mad cuz of the hair", read the previews learn some of the incredibly stupid gameplay stuff they are doing.

Colour me morbidly curious (it's right there in the crayon pack, next to 'mild surprise' and 'fanboy backlash'). On the one hand, I'm not a fan of the new redisign at all. He looks like somebody ran over a MCR groupie with a moped. And that voice? Ugh, 'My name is Dante - and I have inoperable throat cancer.'

Stick that in another game without the DMC label and I wouldn't care so much. It might make things interesting. Hell, a hack and slasher with a roughneck, chain smoking, punk rock, street fighter with throat cancer and a smack problem? I'd buy that. Nobody has gone that route with a game before, could be fun.

But it's not Devil May Cry. This is just innovation for innovations sake. Capcom asked for a change in direction and NT tore them right off the road and is now plunging emo fringe first into a lake. Worse yet is they're screaming 'It's okay! Everybody wants us to drown this franchise, you don't know it yet but getting water in your lungs is good for you!'

However, the recent gameplay trailer kind of yanked me back in a little. It has potential to be a fun game, it really does. I'll be impressed if they get rid of the 'mob of enemies = challenge!' mentality that made the fourth game so much of a problem. If they can dial it down, make each individual enemy more of a challenge and keep the combat fun and fast paced, then I'll play it.

Shit, I'm even kind of curious to see what kind of story they cook up to explain all the changes. Although I am expecting 'Dante Antoinades was just a mild mannered video game developter, some fat critics of his games were mean to him so he went all Super Saiyan and yanked their heads off. Then he makes love to all the women. Like, every single one. And they all tell him that his penis is not shaped like a raisin, nor was his parent's divorce his fault. Then he won the medal from the president of video games. The End.'

Well, now I can add "eurotrash" to Antoniades' increasingly long list of unlikable traits

Sure, in the same sense that lesbians secretly hunger for cock. Is it too late for Ninja Theory to tell us that they'll make us their bitches?
