Waaaaaaait. Wait. What? So... the orignal Dante isn't a Mary Sue? ARE YOU SERIOUS?JdaS said:That and Capcom for giving one of their most enjoyable franchises to this sorry bunch. You can talk all you want about the whole consumer/developer relationship, bottom line is: you want to peddle your Mary Sue fantasies to me in the for of a new IP? Go ahead! I'll buy it if it's good enough. Just don't do it under the guise of my all time favorite game series.

Did you even stop to think about that for a second?
I'm not saying this new guy is perfect or anything, but you need to stop looking at this beloved series of yours with your rose-colored glasses.
Dante has always pretty much been a Mary Sue.
Also, this. Made better by the fact that it's contrasted with one cheesy line uttered by one hammy voice actor.xdiesp said:"Spilling over with writing talent such as Heavenly Sword and Enslaved" was supposed to be irony, I hope.
Meh, I always called BS on the whole idea that new Dante looks like Tameem mostly because it's a bandwagon argument. I rather like the more gritty down to earth Dante because I'm frankly sick of the old one. Also, smoking does make you look cool.JdaS said:FuzzySeduction said:Waaaaaaait. Wait. What? I was referring to the way Tameem pretty much put himself in the protagonist's boots. The orginal Dante was obviously over the top, flamboyant and even cheesy, but at least he was an original character that Hideki Kamiya came up with.
Fact of the matter is that this new Dante just seems to be some dreamworld version of Tameem or something.
I wouldn't even say that I have any rose-colored glasses on when it comes to the series. Even less when it comes to Dante. What pissed me off the most was to have the smug sonovabitch tell me that I hate it because I want to like it.

No, that was Team Ninja.Zefar said:Didn't Ninja theory mess up the character of Samus Aran as well? As in, turning a brave mercenary woman into a girl who would do anything her boyfriend asked of her. Not to mention she showed fear to a monster she meet before.
So do you really trust them with the character design of Dante? When they mess up the basic characteristics of Samus Aran?
I don't and seeing some people opinions on the story in Heavenly Sword I can only assume they ain't gonna do much good.
I didn't really find the story in DMC series that bad. Ok, I played the third and fourth but not the first ones. I do however got a friend to tell me all about it and he have done so.

Why am I saying this? Let me elaborate. Note how the series is called "Devil May Cry". This is a refrence that in the games, devils do not cry, humans cry. Dante (as in the REAL Dante)considers that his ability to cry makes him him more of a human than demon. He also will not kill any demon who "cries" and or shows signs of being more like a human. If Dante is no longer human at all, then this series cannot be "Devil May Cry". Hell, they might as well it the "Adventures of Captain Scowly Face" for all I care.
I honestly doubt Ninja Theory has seen the ending to Devil May Cry 3...
On an unrelated note, Angels = Good, Demons = Bad... I'm smelling a MORAL CHOICE SYSTEM!!!
what's sad is that it wasn't NT actually doing the writing; HS was written by Rhianna Pratchett (who actually does work in other games) and Enslaved was done by screenwriter Alex Garland. An even then both games were obviously the leftovers of said writers. NT themselves don't have jack-shit in terms of actual writing talent. I'd pick DMC's silliness over NT's pretentiousness any dayxdiesp said:"Spilling over with writing talent such as Heavenly Sword and Enslaved" was supposed to be irony, I hope.
Ugh. And you know what? You're right. Fans do "want to like it." And guess what's stopping them from liking it?Grey Carter said:Antoniades claimed that the game "will feel like a proper Devil May Cry game when you have a controller in your hand" and that, "The people who are skeptical secretly want to like it. And our job is to prove it's Devil May Cry in essence."
Also that's just Slenderman-level of creepy.Actual said:I'm just repeating shit I've been told, I can't promise that it's accurate. What I've heard is that the designer and co-founder Tameem Antoniades just made the character look like him.

Well, I hate it for those 3 reasons myself,NameIsRobertPaulson said:We don't hate it because it looks like someone swapped out Dante for Edward
We don't hate it because the Unreal Engine looks terrible with this game
We hate it because you took a dump onto our game by turning the protagonist into YOU!
