To the surprise of literally no one, #FE Tokyo Mirage Sessions has been censored by NoA.

http://personacentral.com/new-tokyo-mirage-sessions-fe-videos-swimsuit-localization-change/

Now, this isn't surprising in itself, what is surprising is the inconsistansy of it within the game.

A characters bikini is removed in one scene but not another, then they censor clevage in a cut scene but not the ensuing boss battle?

It's almost like they're doing it just to fuck with people at this point.

Laziness, Nintendo, like most game companys today dont really want to be accused of todays hot izm, but they dont fell like changing a lot. So they change things that are easy to catch, while leaving em in other places.

If this is censorship, then censorship isn't the always bad, no exception thing that it's been made out to be. I mean really? I don't like this, but why do we always have to jump to it being censorship? Because calling something censorship online pretty much mean you're calling it an attack on freedom of speech.

Oh, that new outfit is pretty cute. Good for cosplay, too. I wonder if it was already in the game or if someone designed it specifically for the American edition.

Only among super-pendantic people who love having long winded arguments with 20 quote boxes per posts that will never be resolved.

In this case its just more conveniant to use "censor" instead of "in house changes in order to not offend parents/corrupt children/fuck with weebs or something"

It is censorship. That's the word. From the dictionary.
This is exactly what it means.

censored censoring: to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable ; also : to suppress or delete as objectionable

It does not magically become something different just because you like the result.
Re-read what I said. "If this is censorship, then censorship isn't the always bad, no exception thing that it's been made out to be." Plus the part where I mentioned that censorship is always used as an attack on freedom of speech. Because let's be frank. There's what words mean, and then there's the meaning people attach to them. I mean the constant misuse of the word literally is a good example of that And online, people have pretty much attached the meaning "Attack on freedom of speech" to the word censorship.

Well fair enough. Can't really argue with that. Sorry, it's just that censorship is a pretty loaded word nowadays.

It's censorship but not the bad kind, imo. This falls in the area of 'western culture views sexuality differently than Japan' so they changed it to fit our culture more. It's nothing new really.

What the heck are you talking about? What you said doesn't really respond to what I said. "I want it to sound nice." I want WHAT to sound nice? Censorship? No not really, I'm arguing against people using loaded words.

On the first screenshot I think the outfit they replaced the bathing suit with is actually pretty cute and more tasteful... It's kind of hard to express style wearing so little and the outfit gives a better impression of her personality than a bikini could do any day.

I think erasing the cleavage line is a bit silly considering it's cell shaded graphics and the line isn't very noticeable to begin with. Also the boss with the boobs, her outfit looks tacked on, unlike the outfit change in the first screenshot.

ie Nintendo got rid of some stuff that was pretty stupid to begin with and shouldn't have been there in the first place. It's amazing at how people can't pick their battles properly.

Loaded or not, this is the right word to use and avoiding it is intellectual dishonesty.
Oh it's the right word to use, but people don't use it correctly. The OP isn't using a blown out of proportion definition, but he's an exception to the norm.

Let's face it, people need to chill the heck out about changes. And if we're going to keep calling it all censorship, we need to recognize that censorship =/= bad by default.

Well just to point out a fact about the censorship angle: Nintendo has always been marketed towards the younger generation so it's not surprising they would suppress things that might be considered PG-13 or higher here in the west.

This smells more aiming for a certain rating/market than actually censoring for the sake of changing it. Like movies cutting out blood splatters and f-bombs to avoid the R-rating.

I do find it hypocritical of Nintendo. Where was all this "morality" when you had this in Hyrule Warriors:

<spoiler=Cia>http://zeldawiki.org/images/thumb/5/59/HW_Cia.png/279px-HW_Cia.png

or this in Wonderful 101:

<spoiler=Wonder Pink>

You guys funded Bayonetta 2, and included the first game with the retail copies. I don't understand why they are worried about some jackoffs who weren't going to give the time of day about the game in the first place, I don't see myself getting this game, but Nintendo, wake up; it's not 1993 anymore!

I don't see a reason why they should. A consumer has the right to know if the product was altered in some way and why it happened. Especially in games where more cuts and changes might follow with other updates.
That has nothing to do with anything. How is a consumer recognizing changes something that can't be done without blowing things out of proportion or assuming that all censorship is inherently bad?
