I am kinda amazed how Nintendo gets free runs in the games indusrty but rereleasing the same games over and over with only some minor tweaks... hum seems I also described the MW and FIFA/sports games series.
Is it nostalgia?
Is it that we are too scared of any thing new?
Or that they feed us drugs in our backs to make us want their games?

The only nintendo sequel wich had some kind of logic was the metroid prime wich actually had a nice story and hinted heavely to the previous episodes.

I know they arent bad but i find it strange that they get away with it.

Explain who they did this and how can we, simple mortals use this formula?

Sorry for the bad english, english is not my first language and i dont have english auto correct.

I'm kinda amazed how people who don't like Nintendo manage to somehow think everything they do is a rehash simply because it contains the same characters.

Currently there's being made a mixture of Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition, you call that re-hashing?

What about Super Mario Galaxy? Is platforming on planetoids this all too common thing in the gaming industry?

well first off Nintendo are pretty much masters of their craft in level design sure every Zelda and Metroid follows the same framework but the details are always different (unless its a straight up remake) basically they reinvent the familiar each time there is always something new to see even if its based on an old idea, unlike say the yearly reiteration of a sports franchise which just updates the roster has newer graphics and if your lucky a tweaked engine.

Unfortunately they also seemed to have trapped themselves with their success, and really have no need for new IP anyway when their old ones sell so well.

As to why people keep buying them I dont know because they have built up a reputation for quality I suppose and a lot of there games are indeed very good but I am also of the opinion they tend to get more credit than they deserve now (probably because of this reputation) that being said I do believe they are the kings of platforming games even if they do hold onto archaic systems that no longer make sense (life system) while their other games seem so simple but no one seems to be able to copy adapt and change old ideas as well, except of course clover studios with Okami which took the Zelda template and made it its own (but this is the only time I can think of Nintendo being outdone at its own game).

Basically this. To add onto it, they primarily market to kids, and secondarily to 'casual' gamers/nostalgians. There's literally millions of kids who have probably never even heard of Legend of Zelda, let alone played it (although I was pleasantly pleased one day to see a ~7-9 year old girl begging her mother for Skyward Sword.)

Although I would love more new IP, there really isn't enough in comparison to sequels and remakes. How do they do it? Create simple games with cute, memorable characters (and create a trust towards the general gamer population).

I understand and know that most of their games are very good ones (Zelda : a link to the past, super metroid, etc..) but i wnder why would some one buy Zelda : ocarina of time on the 3DS when you can play it on an emulator even on your phone (at least on android).

It would be great if they made a new IP but will the fans follow, there will be no more nostalgia factor, also i wonder what the next mario game will be, super mega Yoshi galaxy?

Here's the thing.

Nintendo puts out it's "very similar to the last one" games in increments of about 2-3 years. And there's usually something new or different with them. It's pretty rare that they make a straight up sequel with the same engine.

Compare that to CoD or Madden, which is almost the exact same game, and they come out with a new one practically every year.

That's the difference. Nintendo gives you TIME to miss the series before hitting you with the next variation of it.

Wish they'd stop with all the Mario-filler games. I mean yes, by all means stick him in his grand adventures like Galaxy, but Mario Party 8, Super Mario Bros Wii U, Mario Kart 7, Mario at the Olympic Games 2...that's just too much.

It does annoy me though how they have seemingly done the same thing over and over with different tweaks and additions with their properties (like you Zelda...) but you cannot deny Nintendo do good work with their big names. (I reckon Skyward Sword and Mario Galaxy 2 are brilliant)

Now Nintendo...where's your Starfox 64 sequel...?

I absolutely HATE when people throw sporting games into this argument. It's not like they have a whole lot of room to move, they want to make these games as true to the sport as possible. They also want to keep it current which means they will update the graphics, rosters and tweak games modes every year.

As for Nintendo I really hate the way they just pump out the same game year after year. New Mario Karts, Parties, Bros, Olymipics. FUCK OFF. No one else could get away with that and actually survive as a company. No one. As for Call of Duty? Blame the masses. If 10 million people are willing to fork out for a new COD every year, saying to the dev's "Hey you could shit in this case and I'd still buy it" well then nothing is going to change until our mentality does.
