Meanwhile, the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, released for the Nintendo Wii on Sunday, Nov. 20, has sold 535,000 copies since its U.S. launch, making it hte fastest-selling Zelda game ever, he says.
Man, numbers like that would get you fired if you had released a game for the PS3/360. L.A. Noire has sold roughly 1.87 million copies on the Xbox 360 (800,000 in the first week) and roughly 1.9 million on the PS3 (760,000 in the first week) and Team Bondi was still closed down because they couldn't get any more work.
I had no idea Nintendo's sales were this bad, wow. Quote from Miyamoto about disappointing sales of Twilight Princess in Japan:

?Well, I think a lot of people who bought the Wii are not necessarily the types of people who are interested in playing that kind of game. And a lot of the people who would want to play it [due to chronic shortages of the console] can't find a Wii! But mostly, I think it's that there are fewer and fewer people who are interested in playing a big role-playing game like Zelda."

Considering that Skyward Sword is selling worse than even the PC version of Skyrim, I think he was closer to the truth in the first sentence: it's not the RPG market, it's the Wii.

I hope Nintendo can get back on track one day. They were the ones who saved of us from low-quality casual shovel-ware back in the 80s, with their golden seal of quality, and now they've come full circle and are the primary platform for casual shovel-ware.

Main difference is that titles like L.A. Noire are increadibily front loaded in terms of sales, where as nintendo games are the opposite. Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit and Nintendogs instantly spring to mind.

It's extremely rare for nintendo to have a game sell north of 500,000 in it's first week.

Back on topic: What type of Black Friday Deals were there in the states for a Wii? Cause those numbers are bananas.

I...I think I love you.

OT: Good to see that they are doing OK. I would of hated to see my childhood heros die like that (not that they were ever that close).

The skies are bright under the Zelda side, as well. And with less frostbite, ha ha ha.
You're "sickened" that people are making more threads about one game than another?

Seriously?

Skyrim has been crushed under the weight of its hype. Like Duke Nukem Forever, except slightly better. It still has most of the problems Oblivion did (zooming in on faces, bugs and a bad UI come to mind), PC gamers hate it for being a quick-and-dirty console port, and instead of interesting and unique art design it just covers the landscapes in snow and dyes everyone's tunic brown. Not to mention that it uses a retcon: there aren't meant to be dragons in Tamriel in the first place.

And yet all the critics and fans alike are still proclaiming it the second coming of Christ. Just like they did with Oblivion. And Morrowind. And Call of Duty: Black Ops (for different reasons.) Personally, I'll take a flagship Nintendo franchise over anything else: at least Nintendo still understand that children (and inner children) like to play video games too.

Oh, but good for Nintendo. If I had a Wii and didn't have a massive back-log of games to work through, I might have cared about Skyward Sword.
That might have something to do with the massive number of problems reported with Team Bondi, less about the sales.

Uh... how is any of that that remotely relevant to what I was asking?

I was questioning the notion of someone being actively upset at the subject of forum threads, not asking for a bitter and resentful mini-rant about Skyrim being like Duke Nukem Forever.

Ah, the internet, it's hard to get the communication we normally have through voice tone and facial expression across, even if we end our post with a joke.

It's possible to use a word like "sickened" on a forum to mean "mildly disappointing" instead of losing sleep at night and having post-traumatic disorder.

It's a common practice to use extreme words in a light hearted fashion. Especially if you make it obvious in your voice tone, facial expression, and other words you're using, that such is how you're using the words.

Kind of like how we say "I'm starving" to mean "I'm mildly hungry and haven't eaten in 7 hours".

Oh, I am upset - for Skyrim. With all these fans proclaiming it to be awesome, the newcomers will all be let down by Bethesda's usual problems, but I guess the train of logic is a little hard to follow there...I do that.

... not only are most of those statements incorrect (i wouldn't know about the pc stuff, i bought console), it's barely relevant!

anyhoo, i've never honestly had any doubts with nintendo. they'll be fine. but it IS nice to hear a pick up in sales with the 3DS. it would be a shame for such a great system to do as poorly as it originally seemed to.

There's a punctuation mark for that. "¡". Use either the "alt-option" key with "1" (not the numpad). Or look up alt-codes (alt key plus numpad).

BTW: Nice name. What is the furthest screen have you reached? I nearly reached Mike Tyson via the sky route once. A friend of mine is stuck on the clown.
