Basically, it's a device that recreates whatever amiibo you want. Nintendo isn't happy about that. Though it's hard for me (and I presume a lot of other people) to be sad with how they've handled this situation.

I get that people don't like how scarce Amiibos are, but making every single one (and all variations) be available via internet as well as the DLC that comes with them, while not given Nintendo a single penny is NOT the way to deal with it.

I know I'm not supposed to, but I can't help feeling a bit of schadenfreude.

I never liked this toy collecting mania that's been gnarling its tentacles into the gaming industry, so hopefully this will burst that whole bubble.

I wouldn't be happy either; if anything this is an example of WHY we get shady DLC practices (mostly from asshats like EA, Ubi, and Acti) because companies are sick and tired of this kind of crap happening in 2015. Seriously, if Nintendo are some sort of devil, they're purgatorial at worst. Save your ire for the REAL assholes.

I'm not sure how this is really going to hurt amiibo since most people get it for the figured anyway. Something this product can't provide.

The real question here is how nasty of a security breach this thing can be for Wii U owners.

Note: I'm not a Nintendo guy so I really could not care much less than I currently do. That said...

Fuck 'em. Don't create demand if you can't supply it.
Bingo

It's hard to feel bad about this when Nintendo has been so piss poor about supplying these things (especially since they're actually affecting games now if Jim Sterling's episode with these things and Splatoon is as bad as it sounds).

Well, now that I think of it, that's pretty true; I know plenty of people who don't even take them out of the packaging and just collect them. Plus, in all honesty, I can't see this peripheral lasting long. When Nintendo gets pissed, they get downright NASTY. Though luckily they save it for proper targets.

Yeah they should properly supply the damn product. Piracy is only wrong if you can't get product under normal circumstances in my book. Its going to cost me the same to get this as it would for me to get all of the Fireemlbem amiibos for codename steam.

Well if Nintendo had done a proper job of it in the first place then there wouldnt be a need for this kind of subversion.

It is. The green squid is about $50 to $70 (price changes every 5seconds). Dosen't help you can't buy the thing in the UK as they were all stolen.

Shulk is just as bad. And made worse with him being exclusive to gamestop.

Yeah 'cause that'd be, like, piracy, and no-one has ever turned to that before. :p

So long as demand exceeds supply, Nintendo has nothing to complain about.

Yes, the proper targets like youtubers using content under fair use and even damn publicly released trailer footage. I say fuck how Nintendo feels about this. Perhaps this is the kick in the ass required to make them start acting like an actual company and supply the demand...

You know, I would be more pissed as fuck if all of the "Amiibo DLC" was needed for a trochievement or some shit like that, but it doesn't... It barely registers as something vitally required in the first place... Still doesn't make this Amiiqo shit any better, though...

Other than that, I would have felt sorry for those that were only using Amiiqo due to lacking their preferred Amiibo, but I don't because they, and the makers of the Amiiqo, had to choose the illegal route probably out of sheer impatience or some shit like that...

One of my closest friends is neck-deep into the Amiibo thing. He keeps track of shipments and everything to the best of his abilities. I have seen first-hand the frustration regarding Nintendo's ineptitude on this matter.

Yet he doesn't pirate his materials.

That being said, I can't blame him if he turned to the dark side. These are children's toys that are being scalped because Nintendo couldn't predict success for some unknown reason. And still isn't able to.

You know that green squid amiibo can't be bought in the UK outside of scalpers and Nintendo refuses to do anything about it. Can't really be impatient when theres literally no stock.
