3DS games, for those wondering, are currently being pre-ordered for 40.00 USD. Admittedly, this might not be the final price, but I honestly can't see them going above this, since I can't remember a single DS title that released at $40.

The price is too high for a handheld ... Looking at competitors, you can buy a new 360 for $200 and for $50 more (the cost of a 3DS and a game) you can get a PS3. These are HD consoles and the 3DS is competing with them. It is too expensive.
Is it competing as a handheld, or a console? If it's competing as a handheld, then it's at a decent price, considering how far the tech has advanced compared to earlier installments (DSi, virtually a carbon copy of a DS released at $170 USD). If it's competing as a console, then it's portable, 3D w/o glasses, and motion controllable. In other words, it's got two up on all the current systems (the first two). The only downside is it's not HD.

Wow, I didn't exactly mean to rant, sorry. Simply put, it's not (imo) too high for a handheld, when you consider exactly what's in it. When Sony releases their next gen of handheld, there's no way it'll be less than this.
I personally think it's too damn high for a handheld. $250 was the reason that the PSPGo bombed hard. It's still using friend codes? Why? The PSP doesn't use it and Ad-Hoc gaming works just fine. I'm not paying $250 for another 3D cash in.

Shit, that's still better than the PSP when it first came out.
Every retailer in my area had them for 300 on launch.

Still, not interested. Not at that price with that lineup.

My inner cynic is going "Sonuvabitch", but good for Nintendo regardless. It's a tad pricy, but it's not too pricy. I don't think I will be getting it anyway as I'm not a real Nintendo gamer, or a handheld gamer in general, but it'll be interesting to see what comes out of it.

If the battery life wasn't so puny, I'd consider it.

Of course, I already have a DS, so I'm not as interested as some.

No thanks. I will wait until its hacked all the way through and then perhaps pick one up when they are cheaper. 3D gimmick? Not worth $250.

Well, that's fairly good news, I guess. $250 still seems a bit steep though. But I'm going to wait until the next version comes out anyways, as subsequent versions of Nintendo handhelds are usually superior in almost every way.
I'm probably going to wait until the next version comes out and the buy the original one. There's no way I paying console price for a handheld system...

Is it backwards compatible?
Does it have a gba slot and if so does it play original gameboy games?

Will it use WPA for its online services instead of WEP?

Because not being able to play Soulsilver with anyone online pisses me off.
Oh boy, I agree with you on that. I haven't been able to get ANY of the DLC for the new pokemon games because it's shitting wireless connecting.

OT: I think I'll just wait for next Christmas to come around... heck, that's probably when it's gonna get released over here :/ (England)
