I just love how 85% of the people here are angry at Nintendo. I mean, if someone took my characters without my permission and made a movie about it, I'd be pretty mad. After all, movies usually means profit and if Nintendo isn't getting anything from it and they are, That's just wrong. Even if it was a fan made, it's still a movie and that usually means profit.

All of you who're condemning Nintendo, I'll wager that you'd all have done the exact same thing if you were in Nintendo's position. I know I would! And for those of you who're decrying the 4 years of work that went into this, these people should've known that they were working with someone else's copyrighted material and that there was always the possibility that the copyright holder might take issue with that.

As for this thread: yes, if I was nintendo I would have done the same thing. Did you watch the trailer? It used the most overused (by angsty teens) soundtrack from requiem for a dream. It looks like a rather dorky link too. The goblins looked alright, but that's about it.
If they were pro's, they would have approached nintendo with their idea and they would have had to try to make a movie that nintendo would be happy with too. Then Nintendo, if they believed in it, would probably have helped market it and sell it (and profit from it).
This looks like a camp production and I'm sure they had a lot of fun making it.

I assume the drooling morons behind the Street Fighter and Chun Li films got the go ahead from capcom or whoever, those films are pure rip out your eyes in a futile attempt to unsee what you just have seen evil, yet they don't effect my enjoyment of the Street Fighter games.

Because it's okay to take a copyrighted product and make it into a movie without their permission. This isn't the land of make believe or something. When you go and "steal" something from someone and claim it as your own, you're bound to face the consequences. OK, personally I think this looks pretty epic, other than the fact that the guy who plays link is kind of faggy and made of wank. but then again, link is kind of an elfy thing. its strange to me that legend of Neil and there will be brawl both flew, which parodied zelda in different ways, but this, which seems to be a straightforward type movie, didn't. Lame, nintendo, lame.
It sucked anyway, but seriously? So many fanfilms have been made with no protest whatsoever from the original creators, and Nintendo does this? Seriously? That's just not okay. Even Star Wars has millions of these and no one cares: if people can get away with this under George Lucas' watch, of all people, Nintendo should let it happen.
