Seriously though, what does the Wii U have that the Switch does not? Miiverse, Browser, multimedia apps, backward compatibility and the Virtual Console off the top of my head. Seriously, you can play GBA, DS, NES, SNES, N64, Wii and Wii U games on this console.
that's implying this stuff will never be added to the Switch.

So far the only thing Nintendo has confirmed isn't com/ing to the Switch is Miiverse. just because things like an Internet browser (seriously who the fuck needs this on a console anyway), multimedia apps, digital backwards compatibility and Virtual console aren't there yet doesn't mean they won't be added in the future at all.

In fact Nintendo have already confirmed NES & SNES games to be coming out at some point this year AND with some of those old NES & SNES games having actual online multiplayer added to them. that is huge in itself being able to play those games online.
Who needs an internet browser? Oh I don't know, perhaps people who want to be able to connect to public WiFi at the airport.

The way you connect to the internet in a lot of places is you connect to the WiFi, then open your browser which redirects you to a page to put your password in. Can't do that if you don't have a browser to open now can you?

This is the standard for airports, schools, internet cafes and tons of other places where someone using a switch might want to connect to the internet, you know, like in the commercials.
Who seriously doesn't already own a mobile phone with an Internet Browser in this day and age?
Does having a mobile phone with a browser allow you to connect your switch to the internet to play Splatoon online?

If not then I don't see how that's relevant.

lolwut? why does Splatoon need an internet browser to play online?

same with connecting to Wifi? why do you need an internet browser for that? Switch can search and connect to Wifi networks from the settings menu it has just fine. you don't need an internet browser to do that.

I literally explained in my first post that some places, like schools and airports commonly require a browser redirect to allow you to connect to wifi. No browser means you can't connect to those networks.

haven't experienced that myself personally but if that happens that's still a very minor issue. an issue yes but not a very huge one.

in schools the teachers generally don't want the kids playing videogames anyway.

and if people are out and about at cafes or at airports etc. ok they'll have to play Mario Kart offline for a little bit until they can find a wifi connection that doesn't redirect them through a browser. that's a little annoying for the player but it's not like it's the end of the world or anything. plenty of games are still fun offline like zelda for example.

The university I went to used that kind of redirect system, so if I wanted to play online between classes when I had a break I would not have been able to do so with a switch. Not exactly the end of the world sure, but considering that scenario is literally in one of the switch ads it seems like a pretty silly oversight.

Every university and airport I've been in had that kind of redirect system when it comes to using WiFi, and both of those are have been given time in the switch ads, so it feels almost insulting that I would not be able to use the switch as advertised in those senarios.

So yeah, not a huge deal but it's something that they could easily have fixed and the fact that they didn't makes them seem kind of out of touch.
