I feel like this post could be made every month but has anyone seen how the Switch will do voice Chat, its one of the most convoluted ways ever.

To do voice chat you will have to use a app on your smart phone. Also I wonder how this is going to work in docked mode. I just remember using voice chat during my MMO days for Need for Speed World. I hated the fact my friends wanted to use Skype because it was moderately better then the in game voice chat. This is that but worse.


EDIT: Your games stay as long as you have the subscription, I wonder if was because of the backlash. Its pretty freakin cheap

Also to a lesser extent Nintendo's online account system is 20 bucks which explains why you only get the games for the month But I think we most people would pay 40 bucks to keep the games as long as they had the service.

Nintendo reminds me a lot of Apple...

They hit a huge home run every so often but they think that they're so much smarter than everyone else that they're willing to throw out nine ideas that will crash and burn that they could easily avoid. They won't because all the nay-sayers just don't understand how great the idea is. We're all playing checkers while Nintendo is playing 4D chess.

Lucky for me, I don't care at all about Nintendo's Big Three so I get to just sit back and watch the mental gymnastics as people somehow try to show why Nintendo's voice chat setup is actually genius and how we just don't get the greatness...

That's the thing, Nintendo is the opposite of Apple. The Switch uses a Micro SD card, its Charged by USB C and the Joy Cons pair to a computer with out a stupid dongle. Apparently the Switch isn't that closed off because 8bitdo has updated their Oldschool line of controllers to work with the Switch. If this was apple you would have to buy the stupid HD rumble joy cons(80) or the Pro Controller(70). You can get controllers that are wireless from 8bitdo for 37 bucks that have dual analog. Also you can't buy 3rd party wireless controllers for the X1 and PS4.

Nintendo nails some really great user friendly things but they just do really weird asinine design choices that the industry has stopped doing.

Can you really argue though that the game wouldn't be better with good voice chat?

I never use voice chat either, but when I do, it's with friends, and makes playing the game way more fun.

A co-op shooter with no coms? How do you make call outs? Run strats? Warn that youre being flanked? Let your team mates know you have ult/kill streak/etc?

This sounds terrible. The fact that it was a break out hit says more about the lack of competent shooters available than anything else.

On a somewhat unrelated note, you know, it's really stupid too how Doom 4 could have easily been a great MP shooter as well with such little effort, and they managed somehow to screw that up. Like, seriously, all they had to do... Was make a stock standard arena shooter using the existing mechanics already hammered out in Campaign. But instead we get this crappy unnecessary loadout system. What the fuck is this? All they had to do was pretty much nothing different from standard arena shooter fare! And it would have been just fine.

I don't get it... The Switch has an AUX output... why not use that?
I mean the machine is powerful enough in handheld mode to HD quality, teamchat should not be a problem right?
Also, all the cords! OMG, as someone who actually likes Wifi and Bluetooth stuff... WHY???
Please Nintendo, I love you for the memories and good games you get every now and again, but some decisions are just weird.

I know I wrote about how I had to do this in my MMO days in the original post. At least that was a program running in he back round of my PC, this requires me to use my PC and my Switch.
