Nintendo seems to be making good decisions on everything BUT third party support.

They need to capitalize on that touchpad, get some mobile game devs working for the WiiU and seeing what they do with better hardware or something.
The hardware is fine. Because in all honesty, there are only TWO criteria for judging "good" hardware:

A) Does it work? Yes

B) Is it difficult to work with? No

That is all. Everything else is just dressing.

YEAH! ...and maybe we can get a bunch of F2P, full of timers and microtransactions games on the Wii U too! Oh and who can forget the awesomeness of ingame ads. That is exactly what Nintendo needs.

Escapist: Be honest, the captchas are more about advertising than about security, aren't they?

No 3RD party support or really shitty 3RD party suppose that the Wii and PS3 got that is the question. PS3 towards the beginning of its life cycle and the wii at the end.

AAA third party publishers tend to release pretty boring games these days anyway, so I don't think that this is the case. Nintendo is the only one offering unique or interesting experiences that you can't get on PC. They're the last relevant company in the console industry as far as I can see.

Nintendo can't win. People ***** at them for not making a new IP.

They make a new IP in Splatoon.

Then IGN whines that Splatoon isn't a mascot platformer.

They also make new IPs on Eshop like Dillon's Rolling Western, Pushmo, and Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, but those don't count for some arbitrary reason.

Also, Nintendo isn't getting the EA Sports games. Why don't they make their own sports games, like they did in the NES days? Remember Ice Hockey and Pro Wrestling?
Nintendo can't win because the GC wasn't like the PS2 and Xbox. That's the bottom line. If the GC was just like the PS2 and Xbox when it came to games, hardware, xbox live like service, etc it would of dominated the scene and still to this day Nintendo would be top dog. Maybe Nintendo should of adapted to the competition when it needed to back almost a decade ago. Maybe it should of stopped thinking about family first and thought about taking what the competition had and making it better. Nintendo will never win because it's too little too late. Should of adapted to what gamers wanted decades ago. Time doesn't wait for anyone and Nintendo needs to own up for its mistakes. Mistakes that honestly shouldn't of happened.

Well the developers and indies that approach Nintendo like sensible adults have nothing but praise for their relations and assistance.

The AAA publishers that shit all over Nintendo often show up in Jimquisition to be yelled at.

I'm quite comfortable with Nintendo and their third party support.

Uh, what? The Gamecube had the games and hardware just like its competitors (people seem to forget that the PS2 was the worst hardware wise). It might not have had an xbox live-like service but I don't recall the PS2 doing any better in that category.

And I'm still not understanding your point. How is Nintendo being family focus a mistake? The Wii was a success and the Wii U's current state cannot be contributed to marketing to a family audience. Really, be more clear. What mistakes are you talking about?

I take it that if the new Smash Bros is like Melee, you'll be fine? What you want is not what all gamers want. Nintendo is not behind the curve, they are just in a different place than their competitors.

Ninetndo has enough Wii money to key them afloat for another 50 years, their consoles however are getting more niche as time goes on. Sure Mario's pretty iconic now, but I don't think his image will endure to the same extent that say Mickey Mouse's does for cartoons (Nintendo doesn't have enough Jews to sacrifice to do that).

The only thing that Nintendo article's or raving fans seem to prove to me is that thay'd make a great software publisher and any slight the recent games have had is trying to push the gimmicks that detract from the overall experience (bomb bowling). The concept of decicated consoles is getting a bit quaint these days considering they all do the same thing practically, I say that as boarderline Sony fanboy.

TL;DR: Games are well made, consoles are dogballs.

The GameCube was more powerful than the PS2, and on par with the XBOX.

Am I the only one who thinks the GameCube was a good console?

Are you saying Nintendo's games are well made, and their consoles are dogballs, or consoles in general? Just asking for clarification.

I'm kinda happier with Nintendo being a bit more niche.

Then again I don't have much interest in keeping up with larger budget games, and I also have a PC.

Also, despite the whole third party support issue, they do seem to be picking up indies at a fair rate; not at the rate Sony is (and I'm quite pleased that they're doing it).

Just wanted to tell you that you're right.

Traditional gaming does seem to be very unfriendly to kids at the moment, I don't really know why we of this age seem to treat them with such disdain.

They've certainly done more with Minecraft than I'll ever do. Hell where some of you had Doom, I bet a lot of kids have Minecraft. I think that's great.
