So yea, why? Who in their right mind would blow a year's worth of money on a game console over there other than the elite?

At first, I laughed. North Korea wanting to release a console(?) to monitor the few over there rich enough to buy it.
But then I realized something that's probably cliche around here at this point.

You know you fucked up when the only person that likes what you did is Kim Jong Un, leader of the oppressed and totally the guy that you want your corporation to be like/appeal to.

Wow. Microsoft has single-handedly convinced Kim Jong Un that Big Brother is an achievable goal.
It doesn't even matter that Microsoft is backpedaling at the moment. For the people of North Korea, the damage is already done.

Hint: North Korea is the big dark area.
I have the distinct feeling it really wouldn't matter if they had their own version.

I hope people realize that it's a joke. Most people in that country don't have electricity, not to mention Internet access.

Microsoft might not be the sharpest tool on the shed but I really doubt they would do something like that. The Shit storm that would occur would be far worse than the one that is happening.

Edit: Just saw it was a joke.

Wow. That picture is eyeopening. I mean I knew it was "night" and "day" over there, but not that much. Really makes you wonder what that regime is thinking...

It's not like Microsoft was launching in Asia, anyway. Otherwise, they get deserve every bit of bad press they get, at least in relation to gaming and customer treatment. This will be a real interesting holiday gaming season.

Wow, my first thought was "is this real". Then I noticed the lack of sources and realized it was a joke. But in all honesty, how bad did Microsoft screw up for people to actually believe North Korea was admiring their device.

Then again, how knee-jerk are people to think this made sense when Best Korea is mainly know for starving peasants and batshit government?

captcha: for sure. I hope so captcha, I hope so.
At first I didn't know, but the news was so outrageous that I wanted to find the source.
No sources listed on the linked site.
Other stories were just as wildly outrageous.
Then I went, "Awww, this isn't real is it."
Cuz' it'd have been hilarious if it was. XD

All they need is to chip their people like we do with dogs. Then they can spy all they want. :) Actually how long do you think it will take before the NK people rise up against their government?

Hard to tell. A cult of personality can be a very powerful thing and the one surrounding North Korea's leaders is strong. If anyone is to rise up against Kim Jong-Un, it would probably happen in the form of an assassination and/or coup d'état coming from within the upper ranks of the military.

But, with the way NK closes itself off from the rest of the world, it's really hard to tell.

I don't know man, they might not have enough bauds to pull it off.
Besides, human labor is cheap in NK, they could easily con out more food aid and employ one half of the population to spy on the other half. It's called the Tattling Wives program.

What? The lack of light pollution?

Never. And I'm being quite serious. The lack of technology and communications. Constant famine and the war threat propaganda, combined with all sorts of gulag punishments mean that the people there are extremely conditioned.
