They should of had it as the theme, since it was about vikings. Amon Amarth is Viking metal if you didn't know. Who else is disappoint?
Oh boy, here we go. I hate being the metal elitist, but sometimes I'm just forced into that role. Look, buddy. Amon Amarth are not viking metal. They play perfectly fine melodic death metal, and they happen to sing about vikings. Lyrical themes do not determine a band's (sub)genre. Ever. If that were the case a band like Immortal wouldn't be black metal, since they barely ever sing about Satan. They'd be deepfreeze metal or something.
Yes, viking metal exists, Ensiferum is a good example, or Fjoergyn. Why? Because they actually play a branch-off from folk metal, later Bathory kinda set the standard for how viking metal would sound like. Not Amon Amarth. They're melodic death metal. Nothing more, nothing less. Why? Because the actual music they play is completely different.

I personally think they should've gone with early Enslaved. That's some REAL (well, first wave, anyway) Viking Metal right there, kiddies.

It was about a comicbook character.....not actual Vikings....

So it doesnt really fit...

Skyrim -> Amon Amarth (not saying it should be in it but after your 3rd or so playthru roll Nord Melee Heavy and go about butchering folks in the frozen mountains)

The same way it's unfortunate that Alestorm won't be doing the titles for Pirates 4.

Maybe in some of the fight scenes. He's supposed to be a big tough guy, and he doesn't listen to metal? It would of been metal about him too.

Metal as in the Music Genre?

Cause I dont see that fitting in the Thor movie.
its viking metal. Thor is a Viking god
OT: would be awesome. shame.
Yeah, but it wouldnt fit with the general zaniness that the movie had. there was no one scene that screamed Metal, viking or otherwise.

No. Just... no.
I enjoy listening to them occasionally, but that kind of music would have stuck out like sore thumb, even more so considering how "Thor" was one of the more kid-friendly superhero movies.

Then the kids would realize how awesome Amon Amarth is and they would start listing to it like they should.

Did you actually watch Thor? It would have fit about as well as Slipknot would fit as the soundtrack to the Xmen movies.
The difference being Slipknot are a bunch of pussies, Amon Amarth kick more ass than a frustrated Mexican farmer.

LOL. No such thing exists.

Yes, yes it does, and it's better than sex.
The music would still not fit in the slightest.

OP thinks his opinions are fact.

Yo OP, I am going on a limb and guessing there are over 100,000ish bands in the world. Why should we complain that one band, one measly band, one non-historicly relevant band who shares a some what similar theme to a movie, wasn't even in the movie.

Amon Amarth wasn't in the movie because not every one shares the same music tastes as your oh so superior tastes, not everyone thinks we should force Amon Amarth into a movie in which they should not be in, just so children will like Amon Amarth.

Nah, wouldn't work. I like Amon Amarth and all, but this is actually a pretty fucking stupid idea. Music should fit the scene, not fit some fans tenuous Kevin Bacon style idea.

I mean:

Metal Band --> lyrics based in Viking culture --> Vikings worshipped the Norse Gods --> Marvel bases superhero character on Norse God --> Film made based on Marvel Superhero = therefore film should feature said Metal band.

This makes no sense.

You could use the same justification to argue that Slayer should have done the soundtrack for Schindler's List.

I never said that.
"Then the kids would realize how awesome Amon Amarth is and they would start listing to it like they should."

Sounds like you implied Amon Amarth is a band everyone should listen to and the current alternative *being everything else* is something they shouldn't be listening to.
