PC gamers get enough great stuff. Like they'll miss this "survival shooter". Note: Dead Space was NOT survival horror. There is no horror in "startle" scares. Just surprise and flinching.
Ugh. This again. Horror =/= Scary. Just because it doesn't scare you doesn't mean that it isn't a horror game. Like Doom 3, that was not scary AT ALL, but it is still a "horror" game. Going by that, I had no trouble surviving in it, so it isn't a "survival" game.

OT: Oh well... hopefully it will eventually come. I hate playing shooters on consoles.
Wait...people tried to classify Doom 3 as "survival"? What. The. Fuck.

I've long ago realized that they've substituted horror for gore. When was the last time you saw a horror flick that genuinely scared you instead of just disgusting you (if it even did that) with gore?

Horror movies don't exist anymore. They are all torture/porno flicks sadly...
Yeh, forgot to mention the porno part. It's really the only thing that attracts an audience nowadays. Though I'm sure there are people who are happy with gore flicks.

Aw, and here I am with my Dead Space: Extraction for the Wii and my Dead Space for the PC. Granted, I haven't played the PC game yet, but I loved the Wii-prequel's take on the rail shooter genre, and I've really enjoyed the background story and "space zombie" designs.

And I can't play shooters on consoles. Well, GoldenEye and Perfect Dark worked, and simpler FPS:es like Doom 1/2 work, but dual-analog controls don't work well with my brain. Plus, I don't have a 360 or PS3 yet, and probably won't have one for quite a while.

I'm certainly going to. I'm not about to start signing petitions or anything, but I really enjoyed the first Dead Space and I was looking forward to the sequel. So it's definitely a disappointment.

damn, sorry guys, not tryin to sound like a jerk or anything, but this just rehashes the fact that it looks like pc gaming is dying.
Can anyone post that "Happily Dying" picture for this guy? I don't have it saved.

OT: Hopefully they'll release it eventually as I enjoyed Dead Space and shooters are far more fun on the PC.
you mean this one?
That picture is ridiculously ignorant, truth be told. The gaming world in the different eras represented have next to nothing to do with each other. Might as well post up a picture of Calvin peeing on [http://www.isitfast.com/pee_on_decals.htm] consoles for all the slack-jawed hick notion that goes into posting it up. (If this confuses anyone else, I've elaborated what I mean here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/7.174145.4893883].)

That said, no Dead Space 2 for the PC seems like their loss. I'm pretty sure if they ran the right numbers they'd see a profit from supporting the platform, even with piracy involved. Perhaps they'll put it out for the PC a few months after consoles.

I've got mixed feelings about this. One one hand, Dead Space 2 isn't high on my list of priorities since the first one was quite mediocre and turned straight up into "bad" for the last level and a half. On the other hand, this is quite a dick move by EA. Recently they've been one of the more productive publishers and have gotten over the stigma they incurred in the past, but this is really low.

Considering how they messed up the controls in the first one, I certaintly wasn't going to touch this one with a ten foot pole; seriously, it's like the developers had never seen a keyboard in their life, such a disappointment.

No, just saying it was really "horror" to me, it was just dark, but still considered horror.

Yeah, it seems like one of those franchises that gets better as it learns from it's shortcomings.

But I want to play it in 1080p, 60fps and 4xAA with full v-synch, and the consoles CANNOT offer that, not even close. V-synch especially, with the flickering lights it just makes any screen tear terrible.

The PC version is always the best version and it isn't hard to implement! Why don't they?

Survival because you do have to scrounge for ammo and explore. Shooter, because you see alien, you shoot it. And they made action the primary focus. While insulting me with so called "puzzles".

That said, I had a good time with the first game. But it wasn't a horror game. Unless gore=horror.
The atmosphere was that of a horror game but, yes, nothing else said "survival horror" to me.

You don't sound like a jerk - a bit ignorant though. Its like saying the PS3 is dying because it doesn't get the Mass Effect games, and because multi-plat games don't perform as well (technically) as on the 360.

People have been saying PC gaming has been "dying" for years; Steam grew in user-numbers by 25% last year.

I had Dead Space one and it just bored me, I don't like 3rd person games anyhow and it wasn't scary at all.

I'm still more pissed about not getting Condemned 2.
