OT: Hopefully they'll release it eventually as I enjoyed Dead Space and shooters are far more fun on the PC.

Yes, they are, to have a shooter and not release it on pc is stupid, especially when the prequel was on pc. EA just gave me a reason to launch that nuke...

Repeatedly showing off, and slagging off the console "plebs", why? It's not just about dead space either, it's about every topic involving a comparison with PC. I've long ago realized that they've substituted horror for gore. When was the last time you saw a horror flick that genuinely scared you instead of just disgusting you (if it even did that) with gore?

"Survival Horror" is actually an appropriate name for it. Gore + Scavenging....I mean as far back as I remember "survival horror" referred to games like Resident Evil.

What your thinking of is "psychological horror". Games that actually get in your head an unnerve...the last one I can think of playing was FEAR1 (unfortunately FEAR2 went in a different direction)

OH HELL NO. Monolith's other series, Condemned has managed to scare the fuck out of me. Particularly the first game. Actually, I couldn't even finish the first game.

PC gamers get enough great stuff. Like they'll miss this "survival shooter". Note: Dead Space was NOT survival horror. There is no horror in "startle" scares. Just surprise and flinching.

Survival because you do have to scrounge for ammo and explore. Shooter, because you see alien, you shoot it. And they made action the primary focus. While insulting me with so called "puzzles".

That said, I had a good time with the first game. But it wasn't a horror game. Unless gore=horror.

It wasn't even that gory, and there weren't even that many startle moments. Go figure. I got startled once when a still alive miner surprised me in a storing cabinet. That was all. I can see that Dead Space tries to be genuinely scary with it's lighting and sound effects, but it never got through to me.

Not to mention that your foes are IN YOUR FACE. In the rest of today's horror games, they tend to be a good distance away, and at gun point. Low ammo supply or not.

To me it was the death scenes that kinda left you startled and staring wide eyed at the screen.

Not only were they gory, some of them would come at you out of nowwhere if you happened to be at relatively low health.

I remember killing an enemy, then seeing more coming (and being low on ammo and health) I run (hobble) for it. I turn a corner and my head gets ripped clean off.

So the game wasn't nightmare inducing but I felt it did have its moments.
