So belgium has no government for over a year (we have the record) due to our weird political structure
It all boils down to 2 groups (language difference) not being able to agree on certain terms (land, money, etc) but in the mean time everything is actually going pretty fine.

Could you image having no government in your country!
and what are your views on belgium?

My view on Belgium is that it's awesome. I've been to Gent and the people were great. The architecture was also lovely. If I have to move out of Holland at any point in my life, I'll probably move there.

And I could totally imagine not having any government in my country, because ours is completely ineffectual and constantly bickering internally. You know, in contrast to all others...

Also, the way the narrator said "godverdomme" made me laugh.

All I know about Belgium is my dad's Belgian buddy (I live in the U.S. near Detroit, MI). If he is any indication you guys are a weird species that inhales beer instead of oxygen.

I couldn't imagine having no government who would our media and comedians have to openly mock and criticize at every step.

In my view it all boils down to politicians not wanting to take action that will cost them votes. So instead of actually having to do anything, all they have to do is make sure it becomes a "communotair probleem", something you can't get an agreement over with the other community and they "can't get an agreement over it". In that, I think the republicans and democrats have learnt a thing or two from our politicians ;) .

Quite a few parties gain popularity from this, but personally I don't give a rat's posterior about BHV, but the last elections was all about that. A part of me thinks it's a set up to show "look how good our local government handles things, we don't need Belgium, why not just split up.". If that's true, I'm going to vomit.

As for the money flows, I'm flemish and I don't care about those. So what, money flows from one side of the country to another. That will always happen. If I follow that logic far enough I have to start my own one man republic, since I pay more taxes than I get in return.

I love my country, am not too fond about our high taxes, but I can see why they're needed.

Edit: on the no government thing: it's no problem, as you know well enough. But something tells me that if it was mentioned in the constitution that all fundings and salaries of political parties and ministers would stop if there wasn't a new government within 3 months after the elections, that we wouldn't be in this situation. Of course... those same idiots are the only ones who can put that in there.

England without a government? Why the whole world would collapse!
Seriously, we have a hissy fit if we get a little bit of snow, and riot over some scumbag getting shot, I dread to think what would happen without somebody to tell English people what end of their body to feed.

All I know is that they did a pretty good job in WWI (At least I think it was them...) and I had their alcohol once and I found it crap.

No WONDER it's a curse-world in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...

In all seriousness, I have no real opinion of Belgium. It's just kind of...there, like Wyoming. No government in the U.S.? Boy, that's a can of worms. Some people say we're heading for it (I doubt it) and many snarkers claim we don't actually have one NOW, but that's more of a joke.

I question whether the federalist set-up would allow for a governmental collapse. But this assumes there are some competent members in the middle of the hierarchy that could maintain control and some semblance of order.

I don't see the U.S with no government. It is just to large and has too many resources for no one to try and establish a government. Though I would gladly except new people in office. The ones that are in there are just pants-on-head retarded! (yes i like zero punctuation)
