Still have morrowind. But this does make me very sad. Fallout 3 was miserable compared to their older stuff. Although as games seem to get better graphics the production value seems to drop significantly. I would rather have a game with intense amount of depth with crappier graphics then something pretty to look at that lasts me a few hours. At least in morrowind just about every character had somewhat of a background.

Fallout 3 got better at the whole character background then oblivion ever did but their dlc is horrible compared to the old expansion packs they released. I was so dissapointed with the pitt for how much backstory was there I was expecting a new land to explore. Hell the whole idea behind pittsburgh warranted its own game. Instead they went the easy route and made a mediocore side quest where you get to find pieces of metal.

Sorry for the rant but seriously games are becoming short easy eye candy then actual games. Morrowind took me months to really get to a point where I could say I did just about everything (although in the end I know there is still huge amounts of content I have yet to discover) Oblivion took me weeks and Fallout 3 took me days. Games are now just a gimmick with a game built around it. Again sorry for the wall of text.

Unless of course one looks up the actual interview (as I did, taking a link from Bethesda's own site) where I found nothing of the sort to suggest no new game. In fact...

[a href=http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1119]The link[/a]

Shack: These will be books that stand alone, but use the Elder Scrolls world as their setting?

Pete Hines: No, actually part of our thing is, if you're going to write it, then it needs to fit into the Elder Scrolls lore and canon.

Shack: So future games will take this fiction into account?

Pete Hines: It's hard to say. Hard to say, because we haven't gotten to future games yet.
As for the link the OP provides, the title says "no new Elder Scrolls anytime soon". Seems to me that's standard Bethesda procedure, taking their time no matter what the project is (and still having bugs up the ass, but I digress). Me, I'm not worried. I still await Skyrim or whatever V turns out to be sometime in 2010, unless they're behind schedule, but I can wait just as long as they can.

Elder Scrolls is the flagship of Bethesda.

It's their Warcraft, their Final Fantasy.

They can't just not make the next one, and I don't think they are going to stop making them.

What else are they doing? On their "in development" page it lists 2 games being developed by other companies and published by them, but no in house games. Why not work on TES V?

Aren't they busy making Fallout 4 as was indicated in this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.99596?page=1]?

They'll put the next one out eventually. Oblivion was brilliant and I'm happy for them to take their time.

This is total bullcrap....I'll admit I didn't read the article you attached, but I just can't believe Bethesda would do something like this...

The article seemed to be implying more that TESV was simply down the road quite a bit, rather than that it doesn't exist. Or that at least we shouldn't be expecting any news on their next big project for quite some time. Honestly, if it takes them a while to bridge the gap between the next game being like Oblivion, a game that I spent three or four months playing before I was bored of it, as opposed to Fallout 3, one that I spent about two weeks playing, I'm perfectly willing to wait.

Shame, I just rediscovered TES4 and loving it again. Would've loved to see the fifth installment.

Same, I started playing it again a few weeks ago. My third run-through. Brilliant game.
