No replay value, are you insane?

Replay value completely depends on how good the game is in my opinion. If the game is fantastic, it will automatically have a lot of replay value because you will play it over and over again and still be having fun. If a game sucks, it could have all of the game modes in the world but will have horrible replay value because you'll never want to touch it again.

Of course, the amount of game modes a game has contributes to if it's good or not, so I may just be spewing circular logic. =P

I can find replay value in almost anything. Especially things with stories; I reread books all the time, and games also have gameplay to back them up...it's a great combination.

Hard to narrow it down. I guess my closest thing right now is playing Wizardry 8 with some less conventional party types. Current experiment: Samurai, Ranger, Lord, Monk, and two Bishops. Specifically, four hybrid spellcasters, representing each school of magic, and two bishops specializing in two schools of magic (Wizardry and Psionics, Divinity and Alchemy) each. And that's not taking into account using different voices for the characters...

I would have to say Resident Evil because of the difficulties or the characters you can be, the weapons you can use. And plus there is the mini games you unlock like mercenaries.

Honestly I played Fallout 3 until my playstation caught fire got a platinum trophy and all that crap, the only other games from the past few years that I have played again and agian are Final Fantasy VII through IX, the two God of War games and the first two POP games in the Sands of time trilogy. Theres been quite a few games that floated my boat so to speak (such as the totally epic Dead Space which is the best thing EA has eeeeeeevvvvaaaaaaarrrrr done) but nothing else has got me to play over and over

Oh that's funny I wasn't aware GOD used these forums.
It's not as impossible as it may sound. Considering that for starters, the first stage of Green Hill Zone can be wound up in less than 30 seconds...
Is that the airborne trick?
Where all you see is Sky and Sonic's invisible until you touchdown at the end?
I never could nail that, about as elusive to me as the Infinite combo in Killer Instinct Gold.

I think Doom 3/Resurrection of Evil would do the trick.
Games I've beaten a lot of times are:

Knights of the Old Republic - Over 10
KotOR 2: Sith Lords - 6
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen - 8

Completed Silent Hill 2 something like 25 times now.

I've been through Oblivion a fair few times. On one of my play throughs, I scoured the map and killed every Argonian I came across just for the hell of it.

On a similar note, there's a Dark Brotherhood quest where you have to kill several people in a house who are searching for gold. I have a save right before starting that one and go back to it often. Such fun.

On TA San Andreas I'd jump various vehicles off Mount Chiliad, and discovered that if you jump the hovercraft off, it flies for a fair distance.

I tried to get through Dead Rising without killing any zombies. Slipped up a few times, but my kill count was less than 100.

Sometimes I like going on Shadow of the Colossus and riding around the empty landscape while listening to the Ghosts I-IV album by Nine Inch Nails.

On one of my GTA4 playthroughs, I made sure that Niko went to bed at around 2am, got up around 8 and ate regularly throughout the day.

On GTA3 I'll get in chases with the military while blasting the opera station.

Once I did a no stealth playthrough of Manhunt, where I just fought everyone instead of executing. That was brutally hard.

Back when I first got my 360 I played Halo 2 so many times, it got to the point where me and my brother could beat almost any level on Legendary with all the skulls without much trouble.

Of course Halo 2 has massive "dick around" potential, like grabbing a missions' skull and carrying it to the end or piling vehicles on top of this one Pelican.

I'm working on my 9th playthrough of Mass Effect, and it's still rather entertaining. I think I'll probably stop after number 11, at least until a week or two before ME2.

1. Resident Evil 4 definitely. And if you want a game with near-infinite replay value (or a game where you can keep dicking around for an eternal amount of time) play Fallout 3.

2. That being said, I'll say that those two games are definitely games that I play beyond normal capacities. I beat RE4 about 10 times in a row after I got it using different weapons. I beat it 3 times getting my favorite weapons maxed, then once with Tommy Gun/Infinite launcher only, then once with the matilda and handcannon only, etc.
And with Fallout 3, I got a mod that gives me infinite leveling and stats that go past 100, so I would spend HOURS scouring the wasteland killing anything that moves.

3. The game I have played all too many times through has to be the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It has to be at least 30 times from start to finish, and upwards of 50 times just killing ganondorf and ganon.

I'm surprised no one has said Final Fantasy 7, or any of that series. (Yes, I made an account just to say that.)

Metal Gear Solid games have good replay that you described. All stealth, no stealth, stabbing people, choking them out. Lots of options.

Bioshock stands out as a game with replay value for me because there's a lot of stuff to discover. The only trouble I have is that the game goes downhill so sharply at the end that there's little impetus to finish it again.

I've beaten "System Shock" and "System Shock 2" at least twelve times each.

Oh, but the king of replays has to be "Street Fighter 2" or any of its various re-imaginings. Has anybody else beaten "Super Street Fighter 2" on the hardest level in the mode where you have to fight all sixteen opponents, getting a perfect on every single match? You can't take any damage or block a special move (which also causes damage), so trust me... it's not easy. Hell, if you're not using Vega's claw at maximum reach I'd be tempted to say it's impossible, but I'm sure someone out there might prove me wrong.

Nope, I believe it can actually be done in under 30 seconds. Not that I ever achieve it myself, mind, but just to make sure I wasn't imagining it:

Wasn't being sarcastic mate. That is pretty awesome.
