:(

How about Mark Hamill! he could play an insane version of Batman... one where he has a split personality.

If we're thinking outside the box I'd go with Jaime Foxx. He'd be great as Bruce Wayne and he would be kick-ass as Batman.

Since we're making a game out of throwing crazy yet awesome names into the 'who aughta be the Bat' Hat allow me to present my two nominations:
Ron Perlman

Terry Crews

and if not these two or Affleck as planned I would approve of Seth MacFarlane being the Bat

RE Hugh Jackman as Batman: Wolverine as Batman...is more reasonable than you guys think.

During the Marvel vs. DC arc, the two worlds combined to form the Amalgam age and several heroes and villains merged to become new heroes and villians. Batman and Wolverine merged to become Dark Claw, and it was basically Logan being the Bat fighting against his arch-nemesis, Hyena. (Joker/Sabertooth amalgamation) Other combos of note included Super Soldier (Superman/Captain America) and Amazon. (Wonder Woman/Storm)
I'm not sure you understand what 'reasonable' means.

'Comics did it' rarely qualifies.

Ron Perlman would be an awesome old batman. I'd love to see that. Nathan Fillion would be good too or actually how about Jensen Ackles (dean winchester Supernatural) he has the voice and intimidation factor for batman and I could easily see him doing the playboy millionaire roll too though it would be a younger Bruce Wayne then people are assuming.
Forget old Batman I'm suddenly envisioning Perlman as Bruce Wayne mentoring a young Terry McGinnis ala Batman Beyond. But that begs the question of who do you cast as Terry?

Nathan Fillion would be a good fit but I'd see him more bringing atleast a slightly more comedic take to one or both characters. I can't say anything about Jensen though...I've never watched Supernatural.

Hugh Jackman is only allowed to play a Wayne character if he is Logan Wayne, Dark Claw.

If your gonna have a black guy play Batman, then it really ought to be Samuel Jackson.

As for Ben Affleck, I'm okay with the casting, but he needs to use the line "I'm the Goddamn Batman!" once.
Shit yeah negro. He'd rock the motherfucking set. I maintain that many films would be better for Samuel L Jackson.

They're really dropping the ball never doing a batman beyond movie its such a great universe and your right perlman would be amazing in that roll.
No question at all there, back when Beyond first debuted it might have been justifiable but with cinema tech advancing as it has been they have no excuse now. But beyond [pun intended] Perlman as Wayne who would want to see fill out the cast of a hypothetical Batman Beyond movie? I'm thinking:
Aaron Johnson(Kick Ass) as Terry McGinnis
Bryan Cranston as Terry's father
Emma Watson as Dana Tan
just to name a few.

Idris Elba, I only remember him from Prometheus, and that movie was fucking awful, and so I can only remember him being fucking awful. The idea of a black Batman is terrific, though I honestly don't care either way. I remember a similar discussion about James Bond, and I agreed with someone that Taye Diggs would have been an interesting choice since he was at that time just the right kind of looks, charm, and talent that a Bond player needs. Incidentally I think Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond.

Thought Josh Holloway was an interesting one if only because I wouldn't have imagined him cleaning up enough to be Bruce or hardening up enough to be Bats.

Truth be told I go back to Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. My understanding is that he essentially played himself, that his lines were often ad libitum, so in reality he was just a natural fit for the character on the big screen. Maybe that's what this character needs; someone that is a genuine good spirited playboy that could bring less angst to Bruce Wayne by simply being a modified but mostly sincere version on himself, and use his acting chops to be a darker character once the cowl and cape are on.

In this case I don't think it's Affleck. I don't consider him a talented man, and I've more than given him a chance to entertain me as lead and support. His best moments, in my opinion on Saturday Night Live, were usually marginally memorable, and even then largely thanks to fair writing and support from the not ready for prime time players.

Take my opinion on this with a grain of salt, I thought Brandon Routh was pretty good as Superman and I hated the man of Steel movie intensely, so I probably don't really know what's cool anymore.... dagnabbit!

Now about Idris Elba: there is a black Batman, and he's Batwing, one of the Nu52's biggest hits and an operative of Batman, Incorporated. Let's see 'em make a movie out of THAT!
Elba's way too old to be Batwing, the character seems to be around Nightwing's age, and while I don't think they'd make a movie, if they did, I'm sure I'd watch it twice. Love me some Batwing.

Also, I think being white is a part of Batman's character in a way that it isn't a part of say... Superman or Spiderman's. Bruce's gadgets and whatnot are old bought with VERY old money - http://batman.wikia.com/wiki/Wayne_Enterprises

A kid from forest hills who gets bitten by the wrong spider could look like anyone, same thing for a humanoid alien who gets all juiced up by sunlight. For a guy to be rich because his great great grandparents owned a bunch of property in the Northeast in the 1850's he'd pretty much HAVE to be white. I think things like this are important to consider when deciding to make changes to a character's on-screen portrayal.

To be honest I'd probably want to cast Idris Elba as Orpheus if they were to ever do a series based off of the old "War Games" storyline, but that would be tricky given that it involves very little Batman (directly) and needs an established continuity. Granted Orpheus and The Spoiler both die in that storyline (though they bring Steph back by seriously pushing some characterizations) but it was a fairly interesting one, and you'd need to have someone who at least looks like he could potentially rally the biggest ethnic street gangs to his banner. Granted, Orpheus wearing a full helmet makes him relatively easy to cast since you could have anyone do it, but Elba has the charisma and toughness to seem like he could do the job.

That said I'm not big on mixing ethnicities when it comes to comic book characters. Largely because there actually are enough cool minority characters out there that I think it just takes the right actors to sell them. For example Wesley Snipes seemed to do a lot for the popularity of "Blade", and didn't get much flak for doing it. Had you decided to cast him as Superman or Batman or Spider Man or whatever I don't think it would have gone over as well, and "Blade" never would have gotten the resurgence he deserved.

My opinion is they might use that guy from "Person Of Interest" his last name is Cavaziel I think (brain fart at the moment). He looks decent in a suit, and can do the tough guy thing pretty well. His big TV role is already pretty much coming out of the shadows to whoop up on bad guys unexpectedly... so it's not a big stretch to put him in a costume, and replace the spy system with "The Bat Computer". You could even make his current partner (that guy from Lost... I'm really out of it since I can't remember his name either) Alfred. If you think about it he's already kind of playing Batman for all intents and purposes and the show has done pretty well... :)

I desperately want to see a Batman movie or show starring Will Arnett in the style of Batman 66. I can't imagine anything in the world that would be more wonderful.
