Okay, I like the show, but would NEVER want to be treated by Dr. House.
Okay, sometimes it's a patient that get referred to (dumped on) House because every other doctor in the state has given up and they're going to die anyway. But all too often it's because Cuddy has force House into clinic duty and he's bored or high and decides that the patient with a minor cough doesn't just need some Robitussin, but finds some insignificant rash which Dr. House thinks must be the sign of something terrible. So he immediately admits the patient and starts a course of treatment which results in vomiting blood and a coma. It won't be until after they've removed the patient's spleen and amputated a leg that they stumble on the real cause of the rash and send them off to live happily ever after with their new prosthesis. The reaction is always, "Thank you for saving my life." Rather than, "Was that rash really that dangerous?" Of course the answer is, "As far as you know, and Cuddy will back me up. Not just because I'm boning her, but she knows this place would be shut down in a heartbeat if anyone ever got the idea they could file a malpractice suit for the Mengele-like treatment I give my patients."
I want a doctor like Martin Ellingham. "Go home. Eat right. Get some rest. And stay out of my surgery unless you have a real medical problem.'
