I think you are absolutely right, of course it is a subjective experience. But to the point that I was trying to make, it was like everyone was defending the level before the game was out and it was under some scrutiny, saying how artistic expression shouldn't be limited in games, but a lot of those people really just wanted to shoot things. All those cries were just excuses by a lot of people who wanted to play a level where you kill civilians.TheDaringDragoon said:I don't think it's fair to dismiss anyone who felt nothing in 'No Russian' as an apathetic gamer or person.
People react differently to different situations and some people require more than a video game to stir up guilt or shock. I think that infinity ward created that section of the game for pure shock value to create controversy and boost sales.
You can kill kids in Fallout 3, hell, I killed everyone in that underground kid city.sean.2k9 said:I shot every one xD
I loved it when their was a guy dieing by the wall, you could just go right up to their face look them in the eye the shoot them, it was funny
i don't see the big deal about that level, it was immersive and stuff but you can kill any civilians in GTA or even oblivian and fallout 3 (except kids) so what make this so special, but if you found it disturbing that's ok
Seriously? Wow, that's funny and a little disturbing.WanderFreak said:Makarov told me to tone it down a bit, I was starting to scare the other guys.
THANK YOU.floppylobster said:I think it's the level of realism in the reaction of those being shot. In GTA people often make jokes or run away or your character says something over-the-top that undercuts what?s happening. In MW2 people beg for their lives or try to pull away bodies of family/friends/strangers or try to protect survivors but then get shot in the head for trying to help. You're also hit with a horrible sinking feeling that it might inspire something in real life in future.Jaqen Hghar said:Seeing as I don't have the game and never will, my answer is: I didn't.
But I am still posting here to say this:
What is the big deal with that level? I mean, you don't do anything there you haven't already done in every GTA and Saints Row game. If you have played Postal 2 you have done much much worse.
So if I did play that level, I would shoot everything in sight.
