Googling around it seems like I'm the only person on the whole wide internet who thinks that the PS Move should have had a thumbstick on it.
To explain...
The typical motion-controlled FPS setup has been defined by the Wii - move your character with the nunchuck/navigation controller, aim and turn with the motion controller. Aiming is done on screen, and turning is achieved by swinging off to the edge of the screen. It works, but it's somewhat clunky to have to swing way off to the side and then center yourself again.
I think Sony missed out on a big thing here by not including a second thumbstick because the best thing would be:
- Move with navigation controller
- Aim with motion controller
- Turn with second thumbstick
The thumbstick would handle the large movements while the motion controller would handle the finer aiming within your field of view, giving the best of both worlds (maybe even better than mouse+keyboard). If Sony wanted to bring motion controls to the FPS crowd they could've really knocked it out of the park by just having that extra thumbstick in there, or at least built into one of those assault rifle style accessories.
