So Eugen.. makers of the wargame series and ruse have announced the next game and it seems to be a ww2 version of wargame with maps being 1:1 scale with mod support.

curiously its also being made in conjunction with paradox.

so whats your thoughts? are you looking forward to it? worried about it?

personally im looking forward to the series going ww2 and the fights will be alot more close range with atgm's taken out of the mix

The description I read makes it sound very reminiscent of the Men of War series, which are pretty good, so colour me intrigued. I've never played either of the devs previous games but I have heard good things about them so the talent is clearly there to make something good.

If it ends up basically being WWII Wargame then I'm down.

Oh, and here's the teaser trailer for those that haven't seen it.

I was hoping for like a Hearts of Iron with Wargame combat but failing that I'm still excited for this. Also this'll give tanks more of a role since in a modern combat it's easy to hide infantry in trees and wreck them when they get close or just have helicopters annihilate a whole armored column.

that would be my ideal game actually hearts of iron with tactical battlefields.. although it might be unplayable

im expecting it to be slower paced because the wargame games were fast and things were damn lethal, where by the time you spotted something your pretty little tank was already a smoldering crater

I felt like the main strategy in the series is to hide recon units everywhere with anti-tank units next to them and just never move. At least 70% of the tanks in the series can be wrecked with a single infantry-fired AT missile.

i mainly played single player and that was my tactic.. recon units with others next to them.. defend for the first half before counter attacking.

that said im looking forward to this game.. 1:1 normandy maps with wargame style battles.. naval artillery and aircraft sounds fun

I would love for them to have WW2 naval battles, the ones in Red Dragon boiled down to launching all your missiles and when the enemy didn't suffer a single hit due to anti-missile defenses getting in close for a small gunfight. Make a game and call it Pacific 43 and not only will I buy it I'll pay full price for once.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/572410/ Those screenshots are certainly more Wargame than RUSE and I am so ready for it.
