Just to point out, a grocery store and a store that predominantly sells music removed games from their shelves. No game stores. Well, atleast as far as I know.

But yeah, It's an understandable reaction.

Fair enough, at least for a while.
But now, to be fair, they must stop selling guns, any household things that could be used to make bombs, Violent movies, violent books and bacon.

That's right. BACON.

I thought better of you Norway, you seemed reasonable enough to understand this guy was a nut job not under the influence of the eviiil video games.

Woah, I'm surprised. If these Norwegian store owners actually KNEW a single fucking thing about what they're selling, that is, video games, they'd know the prick is simply doing this to gain attention and get people pissed off at video games, and overall create more chaos and disparity. What they'd also know is that if he actually used Modern Warfare 2 to train his shooting, he would have knocked himself out with the gun's knockback (because it is a well-known fact that in movies and videogames alike, characters often hold the weapons incorrectly), and look like a blithering idiot. He actually trained at a local gun shop and when he was hunting.

Videogames didn't make him violent or help him kill these people. He's just trying to cause more mayhem and have media blaming everything and everyone, because he's a dick, an extremist asshole, and a madman.

Just lock the buttwipe away and don't listen to him anymore. He's just spouting out random crap to play on people's fears, like when he said he's part of a major terrorist organization that has cells in Norway: I'm pretty sure he may be exaggerating or just talking BS.

i can sympathize with why they would do this, but really it's a stupid idea, regardless of whether the story is true or not.there's a clear line drawn between fantasy and reality, shooting a gun in MW2 is about as close to shooting a real gun as jerking off is as close to being sex,etc etc etc...

Meh. I suppose I should care in a general, quest for utopia sense, but whatever, it is their store and they can knock themselves out.

After a big national tragedy, people are sensitive for a little bit. The USA did something somewhat similar after 9/11 with photoshopping the Twin Towers out of stuff, and thinking anything that involved a plane crashing into a building as kind of tasteless and such. It's not usual that people get a little touchy towards this sort of thing after a big national tragedy, especially seeing as this tragedy has a very tangible association with video games. It's totally understandable and respectable. It's a little sickening that people are calling this "retarded" and "stupid," considering this is how some people of Norway are choosing to cope with one of the worst acts of violence in their nation's history.

So did they pull violent movies, music and books off their shelves? No? Of course because video games are 'eviiil' right? *sigh*

What about movies, books and theatre works portraying violence?
Oh yea, they're not the newest form of media, because that's appearently always the one getting a beat-down.

Anyway, business as usual.

On abcnews tv and I quote
"The norwegian Killer played several video games incluling World of Warcraft. The Mythology and lore of World of warcraft put the killer into a fantasy world wear killing is normal."

WTF world of warcraft isn't that violent.

This is a huge disrespect to the victims by shifting the blame onto something that had little to no influence on the shooters actions. If they want to remove something out of respect for the victims, board up the Christian Churches and start executing right wingers in the town square.

You got any sources for this? Do you know what games were taken down?

Taking down these games, whatever they are, is stupid.
The source is written in norwegian... you couldn't read it if we linked it, but I approve of the poster, yes this is true.

but by all means, here it is:

Well as a game store clerk myself, I'll state for the record that the Playcom stores are still selling these titles. Oh and for you non-Norwegians out there, Platekompaniet and Coop aren't "real" gamestores!

Let me explain, Platekompaniet sells games, yes, but they have a very limited selection, focusing on weekly bargain titles in their stores.
And Coop is like wallmart and other similar stores, they have food, everyday items like toilet paper or soap, electronics, kitchen utensils and also movies, music and games. The games are just a small, small fraction of their profit base and often they hook people in with cheap offers on games and movies. So cheap in fact that they lose money on each sale, but since they got people into their stores, they get that back tenfold 90% of the time.

Oh, and I am physicly ditested by these fuckers who ruin the reputation of games by doing this!
Once you actually remove a product because of the actions of a madman, they throw out rational thinking for ideas that where disproven years ago. It would be just as logical to burn the bible because that ************ Breivik is a fundemental Christian.

...and if they wanted to do something as a sign of support towards the victims, they should rather have done what I did. I got the national flag tatoo'ed on my right arm.
